Pbem Play Balance in WIte2 compared to Wite?

Post by Freedom205 »

Played Wite, but could never get past late 41. How does 2 compare? I understand there are countless variables, just wondering what the general feeling is.

Thanks

It's an easy game to win if you set the conditions to easy for beginners.

My understanding is that at low skill levels, it favors whoever catches on the quickest to what needs to be done. At mid skill level, probably slight favor towards soviets as they learn to not get encircled. High skill level, there appears to be little a Soviet can do against WW1 grinding once the axis player masters herding and deleting units without encirclements. Mismatches in skill level are often noticable.

Obviously player skill is important, but essentially it boils down to whether any side is doing WW1 grinds. If the Axis player starts grinding already in 1941 it's pretty much over, even when the initiative (the attacking side, not the gameplay mechanic) switches to the Soviets because WW1 grinding works on the defense too.

Dumb question, but what is the "WWI grinds"?

Get a stack of units to retreat into a hex of your choosing (by taking advantage of how retreat pathing works in the game) with infantry, do a follow-up attack with mobile units and watch the enemy blow up with tens of thousands of losses in a single battle.

I only play against the AI but it sounds like something to use as payback eventually if I ever get that far.

I would say at beginer to medium level the soviets just destroy the axis player but if you ever become one of 3-5 elite players of this game germany is quite strong.
