SS Panzer Corps in 1942 - Commander should not really be Steiner

Post by Cavalry Corp »

To add to my Italian observation.

Maybe wrong but I see that Steiner was still a divisional commander in 42 and the SS Panzer Corps should arrive with Hausser as commander. Would seem more realistic?

In addition SS commanders ( or some of them) should be able to command non SS units - they did it seems.

Well... You can place any division you want under an SS Corp.

Most of the reinforcing HQs that arrive later in the game do not have assigned commanders.

Steiner is available far too early, although in general-equivalent rank his first higher command was in late march 43.

It was a design decision to leave commanders unassigned to HQs after the first couple of months. Either let the AI or players choose their commanders when the HQs arrive. Some of commanders are already serving in other capacities when the campaign begins. I don't know if this is still true but commanders assigned to delayed HQs could not be available to the player for other assignments until after the HQ arrived.

Thats all very well but some of the commanders are impossible to remove ( AP) and if the historical one is known for arrival he should be used I think. Then the payer can change them if they pay the AP.
