Turn 3

The Monster out of the Darkness

I missed one calvary unit and was careless in my duties here. This will cost me a turn and half to fix and may never get back that time. I havent had a mishap like this in a very long time. Oh well, time to move on.

Well, crossing Dnepr on T2 did put me in utter depression. At least some cavalrists got lucky.

Turn 2 End

Here are the end of turn 2 Highlights before moving on to turn 3

Keep an eye on the Soviet Infantry Division to the North East in this picture close to the regiment. On turn 3 this division is no longer there. What happened to it? Airlifted out? But I have a ton of fighter in this area you would think they would have intercepted. Soviet withdraw? Anyone help me out here?

Not certain it's happened here but I'm pretty sure I've had a pocketed unit in contact with the enemy shatter at the start of the turn. I'm guessing some combination of a morale drop for being pocketed, damaged/lost elements it can't replace and attrition did it.

I knew it! But why did my air not intercept them being airlifted out? /scratches head

I did not think of this but very good point for sure. Thank you for sharing.

Well, I think the forums are more pro-defender than pro-soviet. The game has been very fine tuned, but the biggest remaining issues generally favor the attacker (multistack hasties are insufficiently penalized in time and efficacy, overly easy AFV maintenance allows extended overland moves away from support, comparative ease of getting logistics over river lines that means crossing the Dnepr or the Vistula doesn’t incur a delay while getting support infrastructure built up far side or have log canalized along the bridges) - we all like to root for the underdog. Once players get over the systems familiarization phase, the few remaining issues tend to make the early and late war defender that guy.

The Bf110s were night interceptors - unfortunately they all start focused as BOMBERS.

Hi Carlkay, the 110s were not designed with night fighting in mind. They were modified to serve as night fighters.

About the F2 operational losses - they do seem to be relatively unreliable (@ 15 compared to 5 for a FW-190) so the combination with flying @ night with (slight) damage and reliability issues might be causing them to crash.... Doesn't help that those are 100% pilot losses....
