On the central front the line remains quiet as Erhard Raus 3rd Pz Armee deployed on both sides of the Volga continues construction of the fortifications, in there retreat across the Volga river many bridges were destroyed by the enemy so makeshift bridges were hastily built so Infantry could cross and take up forward positions. FM Von Manstein issuing orders that together with the current fort network being constructed engineer units are to begin bridging the river with large scale heavy bridges suitable for armoured forces that can conduct a rapid deployment to the east bank.
South of 3rd Pz Armee the situation is likewise quiet the only enemy activity coming from the Red Air Force conducting recon operations, enemy ground units have been spotted but maintain there distance beyond the range of our heavy artillery, construction in this sector continues at a steady pace unaffected by the enemy.
Infantry from the 335th Division man forward positions along the Volga

On the Caspian Sea front once again the Red Army launches another uncoordinated armoured attack towards Kharabali and Astrakhan Von Kleist at his HQ at Rostov is informed of the enemy movement towards the front gives the orders for Breith and Ruoff to encircle the enemy formations and destroy them.
The Red Army assault is blunted by 1st Pz Armee's Panzer formations as 17th Armee infantry moves to support German armour as it brushes aside the lead elements of Soviet armour and begins to push into the rear areas cutting off the enemy's escape routes, on Ruoff's left flank Generalmajor Friedrich Schulz's VIII ArmeeKorps moves northeast linking up with Felix Steiner's III SS Pz Korps and Eugen Ott's LII ArmeeKorps sealing the fate of of five Soviet Tank Corps.
Reports from Axis Recon aircraft indicate four more enemy Tank Corps moving south but are to late to help there comrades.

Heavy air activity over western Germany with the enemy again this week conducting massive observation operations across major industrial regions, for the second week in a row Berlin and Potsdam are targeted by large scale bombing raids.
High Command orders that the bulk of Luftwaffe fighter forces be concentrated in western and northwestern Germany to counter Allied long range air raids.

While strategic bombing is the Allied priority in Germany, in France and in particular northwestern France the enemy continues there ground interdiction operations on Rail, Road, Air Bases and Ground forces at Normandy, Allied ground attack aircraft also target Army Command centres in an effort to disrupt communications to units fighting at the Normandy front.
The few German fighter units stationed IX Flieger Korps ( Stefan Froehlich ) and II Jagd Korps ( Werner Junck ) have been offering spirited resistance against the enemy attacks.
Allied bombers target 7th Armee, 1st SS Pz Korps, LXXXIV ArmeeKorps and LVIII Pz Korps Headquarters in an effort to disrupt our ground combat operations fortunately all Senior Commanders were unharmed

As the battle in the air and on the ground continues to intensify for the control of the Normandy beachhead, BF 109G-6's from I Jagd Korps and F-5B Lightnings and F-6C Mustangs have been locked in a series of air battles over the Pfalz and Hesse regions, the enemy conducting smaller night bombing raids on Industrial centres along the Rhine river and Frankfurt, while damage is minimal to factory operations this distraction is diverting fighter units away from the main fight.

This week in the Ligurian Sea our fighter forces are involved in further heavy air operations as Allied Recon units commence there observation patrols over mainland Italy while over Corsica Axis air units engage large enemy bomber forces heading north, the enemy also begun a concerted effort to interdict Axis Naval traffic along the southern coast of France.
Southern France / Northern Italy
Allied air forces have opened a new front in Western Europe, in Italy Savona, Cuneo and Imperia were bombed as was the rail infrastructure in this region severely hampering transport operations, in the Provence region the enemy conducted a mass bombing operation Nice, Cannes, Digne, Toulon, Marseille, and Avignon were hit, Rail and Port faculties the main objectives.
Enemy Bombers also struck at all rail networks in the region as far north as the town of Gap, the damage was widespread and considerable with no Axis fighter units stationed in this area, some units from II Flieger Korps ( Italy ) were diverted once it became clear of the enemies intentions, but for the most part ground base defences were the only opposition to the raids.
High Command has ordered two air units to be immediately deployed to the Montpellier air base to begin operations against Allied forces, General Von Vaerst ( Army Group G ) has ordered a heightened state of alert for his command.

This week enemy air activity on the Italian mainland remains constant with large scale observation flights centred in the central region of the country, here Luftwaffe Command is concentrating there fighter units to interdict the enemy, with a new threat opening up in the Ligurian Sea and the Gulf of lion precious few air units are able to counter enemy operations against our ground ground forces on the front line.
In The Balkans US Bombers again attack key industrial centres, with sparse Axis air units operating in the region the enemy has almost free reign, a review of the situation is needed and more air units allocated to the defence of the Oil and Fuel facilities to mount a proper defence.

In the Campania region US 5th Army and Commonwealth units maintain the pressure on our front line, despite the heavy armoured assaults along the Volturno river fortifications 5th Pz Armee position holds firm, the much welcomed Axis reinforcements for 14th Armee allows LXXXXVII ArmeeKorps ( Kuebler ) to pull back the 719th Inf Div behind the line to rest. On 10th Armee's front Von Vietinghoff's troops have been weathering a storm of armoured attacks across there entire front as Montgomery throws everything possible to force a breakthrough.
At Grazzanise Allied forces once launch directs assault on the town only to be thrown back as General Balck's LXXXX ArmeeKorps Panzer's inflict heavy losses on the US tanks, with the Italian 4th Mountain Div arriving just time from the vacated 719th Inf Div Mountain top positions to face a massive assault from three Allied Corps, the enemy launching three attacks over the course of the week. In the central area just north of Campobasso the enemy launches fresh attacks on Hube's XIV Pz Korps, despite the enemy numbers the enemy is unsuccessful.
On The Adriatic front Brit 8th Army launches a full scale assault along the 30 mile front with enemy artillery opening up with a massive bombardment across the line, spearheaded by armoured formations the enemy pushes forward with Infantry in support, there is heavy fighting as Feuerstein and Straube defend grimly, the Allies take large casualties but keep pushing forward to within 500 yards of our defence line before being finally halted.

Radio signal intercepts from listening stations along the Normandy coast indicate another Allied push is imminent, also coded Allied messages broken by German Intelligence read that US General Bradley is no longer in Command of the US 1st Army, the new Commander is now General C Hodges. The German LXXXI ArmeeKorps arrives north of Dieppe quickly throwing up a defensive line running up to Abbeville and thwarting a possible secondary seaborne landing that could cut 15th Armee's supply lines.
At St-Valery the Allies open up with a massive artillery bombardment on LXXXII ArmeeKorps positions followed by a ground attack by US Paratroopers and Brit Infantry which almost breaks General Sinnhuber's line, the enemy attack on our defenders is high with large losses but advance within 200 yards before being halted by the 26th Panzer Div, Hodges 1st Army relaunches the ground assault making two more attempts to breakthrough but 15th Armee holds.
On 7th Armee front Herr is once again under attack, the LXXVI Pz Korps forward units come under fire as enemy forces advance on three fronts, US Paratroopers making a direct attack on the line and enemy Infantry on the right and left with heavy tank support attempt flanking attacks hoping to push Herr's Panzer troops back, despite heavy losses Allied forces continue to push forward, Herr orders an attack to drive the enemy back with the 21st and 130th Lehr Panzer Divisions, Major August Seidensticker's schwere Panzer-Abteilung 504 leads the German counterattack, after a week of heavy fighting the Allies are halted.
Tiger 131 ( schwere Panzer-Abteilung 504 ) at the town of Lisieux prepares to move to the front line in Normandy.
