Situation Report Jan 14th 1943 Turn 9
Army Group B / Don

Soviet forces begin the push through the undefended areas of the line, Italian and Romanian troops are overwhelmed, however The Hungarian Army holds firm,I have rushed anything I could there to plug the gap but there are just to many of the enemy to stop.
More Red Army troops are moving up to the line, I have nothing left, The Italian Army is withdrawing more men each week, the Romanian Divisions are virtually shadows of the former selves.

A breakthrough by Soviet Armour is contained by shattered Romanian Cav units while a German Division moves to block any other infiltrators, while this is happening 6th Armee falls back covered by 4th Pz Armee, Red Army troops have more or less reached the right flank so I now will be attacked on 3 sides adding to the already critical problems both Armee's are facing.despite the bad weather the open ground is ideal for Soviet mobile forces to punch through and move behind my forces, cant really put a static defence, the enemy has way to many troops.

1st Pz Armee position is no better than 6th Armee as the troops redeploy back towards The Kuban River, reports are received that advance spearheads are at the outskirts of Petrovskoe.
The Red Army launches a number of attacks but they are held by determined resistance, but the enemies sheer wait of numbers will eventually be to much.

On the Black Sea front 17th Armee continues taking ground including important airfields disrupting enemy activity, still i have made a decision to redeploy a number of the troops North to cover the Northern flank of 1st Pz Armee.
I deem this to be a high priority if I am to keep 1st Pz a functioning fighting force.

Enemy Ground losses continue to mount as now nearly 3 quarters of a million Soviet men at arms become POW's, AFV losses are not as high this week, while we ourselves lost quite a huge amount of field artillery pieces. Our manpower losses this week are quite high, while we did mange to keep our own AFV losses below 100.

Stalemate In Libya as Montgomery's armour again fails to breach The El Agheila Line, The New Zealanders also remain trapped with supplies dwindling and no support from the rest of 8th Army.
Apart from air strikes The Allies are unwilling or unable to move forces to relieve there comrades, with every week that goes by it seems more and more likely the encircled unit will eventually surrender.

What looked like a quick and easy victory for The enemy at the beginning of the Campaign now appears to be on the brink of disaster as the enemy grows weaker and we grow stronger with every victory gained.

Snow falls over the country making life difficult for both sides, The French Inf see a opening and attempt to breakout to the South across The Tebessa Mountain range with the hope of trying to force a way through the Italian sector of the line.
Its slow going trying to move across mountains with very little food and water, low morale and most of all sapped of energy under these inhospitable conditions.

Though the action is quiet in the South of the country in the North The French mount an offensive to try to relieve there trapped comrades alone as US and British armoured units fail to offer any kind of support resulting in a even bigger disaster as first The French 3rd Brigade FF Moroccan Inf division then 1st Brigade FF Algerian Division both from the XIX FF Corps are assaulted by 5th Pz Armee and forced to surrender.
After completing the destruction of these 2 enemy units 5th Pz moves quickly to encircle 2 more unsupported FF Inf Brigades that advanced to far forward with out help.

Air War Tunisia and The Mediterranean

Once again this week the Allied Air Forces continue with there sustained attacks against my line of communications this week particularly The Allies launched massive carpet bombing raids on my rail lines, the damage so bad my rail repair units were unable repair badly needed lines to transport supplies to the front lines, this also causes the problem that with rail lines destroyed at major rail depots I cannot establish forward supply bases.
All supplies must be trucked in from rear area supply depots.

Despite this huge setback the air war is not all one sided as reports come in that air units operating from the European mainland and from Tunisia itself dealt another huge blow to The Allies.

In a Air / Sea battle in the Western Mediterranean off the coast of Algeria Axis Air units destroyed an entire Allied troop convoy, reports say 2 US CC's of a Armoured brigade and an entire US Infantry division were lost from the destruction of the Convoy.

looking at the production screen it looks irrelevant for North Africa, if I am getting anything in the way of equipment and weapons its just a trickle as most of it will be going to the Western Front, as mentioned by me in a early post there is no industry of any kind here, captured equipment cannot be used, there are manpower centres which may giving me some replacements I guess that is something at least, though it would be nice to use some of those captured Sherman's and Lee's against the enemy.

It also plays a negative effect on long supplies thanks to not having functioning rail lines and no forward supply depots supplies have to be trucked in with trucks I desperately need for my units themselves.

Today however the descriptions will be real brief if at all. Anyway enough of me complaining.
