The RED Fires of Hell (HLYA as Soviets VS Unknown German)
After going through "Hell" in real life in Feb 2023 almost losing my wife to a severe car accident. Nursing her back to health from her long hospital stay & numerous rehab visits she has made a recovery, thank God for all of that.
I have returned to the game I love to play. My AAR is to follow the Soviet play in "Real time"(when not too detrimental to the game) with quick turn turn arounds. Something that is out of the ordinary for me since I am meticulous in my moves.
M60 added an analysis of the game July 31st that can be found here

Re: The RED Fires of Hell (HLYA as Soviets)
German player has the turn and is free to comment in the thread & read the thread in real time.
Game
41 GC no Early End
NO enhanced TB control (I was an advocate for having open in the past)
.52 patch
No motorization
No Naval invasion beyond 5 hexes of front line (an excellent Joel recommendation which I have taken to my games)
I won't be doing para drops, Germans are free to do so if my opponent wants to

Looks like another HLYA classic in the making
Best of luck to both players, and very excited to follow it!

Don't know about "classic" unless you mean me making myself a fool in the game. Then yes that will be of course a "classic". Or me making myself a fool on my posts on the forums saying something stupid, then yeah that will be "classic" too. Lord knows I have done it many times

I would say Riga is gone
. (doing detective work before getting the turn, LOL)
My opponent can stay hidden if he so desires, I won't mention the name. I did invite my opponent to write an AAR though
Until that time I will obscure the name.

Re: The RED Fires of Hell (HLYA as Soviets)
Looks like 5 KIA's this game so far....
Kind of sad I lost this RIP1 guy
.
Also RIP2 Pavlov out of the way
And replaced with this guy. At least he has high morale
Have to say it is not that bad on leader losses this game. Nothing compares to leader losses I suffered in this massacre of 17 before I even moved and up to 30 by the end of my turn here. https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 4#p4981884. Thank you Devs for fixing the leader loss

Excited to read your AAR!
Please comment/ramble aloud, in particular about:
TD usage after the return fire bug fix
Art SU - still transfer to training areas?
Vehicle managment after the 200k nerf

I am back at it today with some more "boring" screenshots of turn 1 and some comments on the snapshots above. My Fridays and Saturdays are just too hectic to do anything game related.

I have not thought about TD usage at all yet

I am almost done with the turn and I am on the fence on the Art SU's. In my K62 game I disbanded every single tube of artillery for the Manpower(Jasonbroomer game I disbanded the majority of the Artillery for manpower). This game I am going to wait another turn, I think, before doing a mass disband for 180,000ish manpower(closed TB's total). I want to see the strength of play by my German opponent. Plus, this game has closed TB's so the comparison on manpower gain is different than the K62 game where there was an even better gain from disbanding(open TB's). Of course there are Pro's and Con's to doing a mass disband of Artillery. I will take the Con's to get the men. Then I micro manage my TOE of divisions on the board based on location and what they are facing. It would be an orchestrated nightmare for some if I went into it, but I digress.
The vehicle management I should not have an issue with. You can always disband the truck heavy division for trucks. Of course there are many other factors dictating truck use that can be managed better too.

Re: The RED Fires of Hell (HLYA as Soviets)
While doing the turn I found the German FBD in the box highlighted in yellow. So next turn the FBD should have no problem converting the hexes to Lvov but will have to move the Soviet units, possibly causing delay in those hexes for conversion. Will it make a difference in the Long game? Nope. Will it make a difference in the short game? Yeah, will be a few hexes behind.
I wanted to test out using one single track rail line out of this area. Granted the line was "saturated" as seen in this photo below, but was able to do so.
NOW, having said that I believe that IF the Germans took Ternopol and/or Proshurov LESS units would have gotten out since there was not enough local capacity to pickup the units ;-P
I know probably everyone knows all of this and is nothing new. It is for the one or two that may be reading this the first time.

Re: The RED Fires of Hell (HLYA as Soviets)
I go for round two against another Sec rgmt
. I move the HQ in range of one my units.
Check the CV value, even though it doesn't matter since I am attacking the Sec rgmt anyway
Well, that was anti climatic but I will take it just the same.
