Overstacking

Post by milesjb »

I'm confused by the chart in the Overstacking section of the manual. It seems to be indicating that if you attack from 2 hexes there's no penalty for having 200 stacking points in each hex and so on. If 3 hexes, up to 300 pts is OK. But that doesn't seem to make sense. Can someone explain the chart please?

When attacking, my understanding is stacking goes up by 100 total stacking points per hex side. So if you attack from 1 hex, you receive penalties if your total attack force is greater than 100 stacking points. If you attack from 3 hexes, you receive penalties if your total attack force is greater than 300 stacking points and so on. Basically when attacking, stacking penalties consider your total force size rather than troops in each hex.

When defending a hex, you receive penalties if your total defending force exceeds 200 stacking points. So when defending, you are only looking at one hex and penalties occur if your total force in the hex exceeds 200 stacking points.

Thanks Jagger. BTW, did you notice that we joined this Matrix forum 1 day apart back in 2002?

Hehe, no but I see you beat me out by a day. Time sure moves fast. Almost 20 years and I only have 487 posts...and you only 116.

Well, I’ve only posted about a few games over the years, but think of how many different games we’ve played over those years.

Yes, plenty of them. I rank this one pretty high amongst the list.

I think overstacking limit from attacking from only 1 hex is still 200. It says 100 in the manual and certain part of the UI, but in the combat predictor, in the combat detail screen, attacking with over 100 stack point from single hex does not give overstacking penalty.

Can someone from the dev. team or Matrix confirm this. It's important.
