How long does a turn take (in minutes)?

Decisive Campaigns: Ardennes Offensive is the fourth wargame in the Decisive Campaign series. Covering the battles in the Ardennes between December 1944 and January 1945, it brings to life Operational wargaming by lowering the scale to just above tactical level.

How long does a turn take (in minutes)?

The programmer for this game is the same (apparently) that did Shadow Empire. That game (SE) is painfully slow in executing turns and has a horrible UI. I am concerned that this is going to be the same thing again.

The programmer of this game made also all Decisive Campaigns series ;-) and I love his UI.
Well, it takes very fast on small-medium scenarios.
Example: in Bastogne scenario AI is making turn about 1.00-1.30 min. You can do it as long as you like. 5 min should be ok.

There is no such thing as a historically accurate strategy game. Every game stops being historically accurate from the very first move player do. First unit that moves ahistorically, first battle with non-historical results, mean we ride in unknown.

I think the turn time also depends on how far you are into a battle, and even more on the computer hardware of the player. It varies very much, but is never long enough to render the game unplayable. I think if the turns were any faster, we'd miss seeing moves like airstrikes and enemy attacks.

I think the unnamed programmer of the game, maybe Vic is name, should get the Nobel Peace Prize for his wargame creation genius to return meaning to the award which used to be respected a couple decades ago or something. His games bring a lot of value to the small but very important wargame genre.

Hi, it is not at all the same issue as in shadow empire. In shadow empire, you can easily have a fast player turn, then a long AI turn.

It is not the case here. In big scenario (like grand campaign), the AI turn is quite long. (But fast on small/Medium scenario). But your turn, where you plan your movement and move your units will be very long too !!
It is much more a game where you take time to plan your movement and think about your move&strategy so the AI turn time is less a factor in my opinion.

Also, you can start to preview some movement&battles while the AI is thinking.
Brakes are for cowards !!

The horrible and talentless programmer for this game (Vic) did do Shadow Empire. He also did Decisive Campaigns: Warsaw to Paris, Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue, Decisive Campaigns: Barbarossa, Advanced Tactics and Advanced Tactics Gold. All released by Matrix Games. God that outfit must like talentless programmers to give them that kind of run. Other people, like you, who obviously has great expertise, get to make no games. It's simply unfair!

Maybe the OP is the legend himself with a ghost account trolling us a bit to see what we really think of him, or if (may god forbid) we agree with his negative bait.

The computer plays a lot faster than the impatient human player.
