Watch on the Rhine - The Slow Game

Post by runyan99 »

I am seeking an opponent to take the Allies in the full campaign with poor weather.

I have got this just about ready to go and am just finishing up the moves for 6 Pz Army this weekend. I titled this the slow game because that is what you should expect. I only have the focus and energy to contemplate about a corps at a time, and I break the game up into several sessions. I don't think I can expect to complete about a turn a week given the amount of counters to push.

If that is for you, email me.

Thanks!

Why only bad weather? Allies greatly rely on the airforce as Germans have much stronger infantry themselves. Tanks are situational.

Why not historic or random weather?

I am happy to explain my thinking. In playing the smaller scenarios, the Allied air is very powerful and pretty much determines the game. The German tank battalions look almost impotent to my eyes, and become ridiculous sad prey very quickly.

We know how the battle played out historically with clear weather. The offensive fails totally, almost comically, and the bulge gets rolled back to the start line. To make any kind of 'game' out of the situation you have to change something in favor of the side that lost here, in my opinion.

If you want to play with historical weather, fine with me. I'll take the Allies and airstrike you to death, guaranteed. I haven't played either side yet.

I am a fairly new player. Still discovering the game and reading the manual.
I had just played the smaller scenario - The West Wall and I can confirm that yes in a clear sky the air attacks of the USA are a bit "strong" destroying 4-12 Panters for 3PP points ( 1 Airstrike) as you mentioned.
I can play Allies in bad weather if you still did not found the opponent by now.
