Best Scenarios Since Release of CMO

Post by redboot »

I'm looking for my next few plays and it occurred to me to ask: What are your favorite scenarios since the release of CMO last year? I.e. newer scenarios taking advantage of CMO's new features.

Mine are (i) the new version of Canary's Cage and (ii) Sahel Slugfest.

My first favorite was The Hunters. Playing the old version of the Battle of Latakia and then the new version of The Hunters shows off some basic new features and learnings of scenario designers between CMNAO and CMO.

I really like Beyond Kashmir. Good mix of modern weapons, if you get careless it is easy to lose assets, and you have a limited strike force making attack planning very important.

Awesome to hear! I did a little editing myself just to make the initial planning a bit easier and update to the latest version DB. Seriously looking forward to the new release, great scenario!

Perhaps a dumb question for thewood1: Is the new version of The Hunters the one that's in the current DLC set for Shifting Sands, or is there another more recent version out there somewhere? (I didn't think the DLC Packs had been updated.)

The Hunters is in Shifting Sands. The Battle of Latakia is a scenario that comes with the original game the Standalone scenarios folder.

They are both relatively small scenarios. But The Hunters has a lot of stuff added that you couldn't do with CMNAO 1.0, but are more than doable in CMO.

To all:

Picking a BEST scenario is obviously a subjective topic, so those scenarios being mentioned thus far are all extremely worthy, lest they wouldn't be mentioned in the first place. <lol>

The task of finding the BEST is truly difficult and, as I said, subjective, but I would like to mention BeirutDude's "Fiery Cross" scenario, which is a battle in the South China Sea. It is new, fast, has lots of different units, and involves a little bit of everything. I have really enjoyed it.

Seven Days in October about the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Very interesting pre-conflict maneuvering.

I'm going to put in a vote for Gunner 98's "NF #41 Tour de Force".
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4816834

This 10 day monster scenario is a mini-campaign all by itself, as you shepherd nine carrier groups through a series of assaults on Soviet-occupied Norway, at the same time as you occupy and set up new ASW helicopter stations, fight off powerful attacks by the lurking foe, and desperately attempt to keep everyone fuelled and full of munitions in the icy arctic waters.

If you like large scenarios where operational level considerations come into play, then this is definitely one to check out.

I have only bought CMO since 5 weeks and I am progressing gradually with tutorial scenarios and therefore a little more complex. For the moment what I liked the most was SAHEL SLUGFEST, played with both the French (p. 1930) and the Chinese (p. 1670).
Now I'm playing Canary's cage.
They are moderately complex scenaries, which can be managed, with a little attention, in a completely manual way, as I like it.
Probably, with more complex scenarios, this will no longer be possible ...

P.S. - Unfortunately in Canary's cage I'm not getting the game's evaluation / scoring, despite having already shot down several Islamic planes ...

Some of them are in the Community folder, others can be found in the "Mods and Scenarios" section of this forum. If you're not on Steam, you can download the latest set of Community scenarios from the WarfareSims download page here.
