Disengagement

Post by slimatwar »

In the picture:
I want my surface group to focus attacking exclusively on the 3 FFL corvettes in the southwest and stop attacking the heavily damaged FFG FREMM to the west. How can I do this? The hotkey E , doesn't seem to work.
It's a problem generally that individual targets cannot be dropped by selection.
The "filter-out" option what is about?

Use target priority in ROEs. Set class or units as higher priority.

btw "filter out is visual only. It removes all the data and circles from around the contact to clean it up/

E is just "drop contact". If you have sensors on the contact, it'll be reacquired.

One more point is you can manually tell the ships to attack the FFGs and leave the other ship out.

Have you tried reading the manual? Believe it or not it does contain a lot of useful information

New UI feature: You can now filter-out a selected contact
(“Filter-out” command on the contact context/right-click menu).
Filtered-out contacts are shown ghosted and no information on
their movement vector, sensor & weapon range symbols and
AoU is presented on the map. This can be useful if you have a lot
of contacts of no interest (e.g neutrals) on the map and want to
eliminate the clutter they create. You can cancel a contact’s filterout
status the same way.

If you have a specific contact that you don't want to attack, right-click and mark it as a "decoy". The decoy feature is super-useful for this. You might still need to hit 'E' to drop the initial target, but it should not re-acquire then.

When you drop a target with 'E', it will be automatically re-acquired if the attacking unit is on an appropriate mission that attacks that type of target. Hitting 'E' just arm-wrestles with the mission logic. So, you could also try to un-assign your attacking unit from its mission.
The boogabooga doctrine for CMO: Any intentional human intervention needs to be able to completely and reliably over-ride anything that the AI is doing at any time.

Thanks :D , very useful tip. It's also noted in the manual.
