Jesus H Christ, you guys are seriously working some overtime!
Btw, I can't seem to make the game crash. Could you guys fix that, please?

thank you guys....
RE: Command v1.04 Release Candidates thread
Just to add a little perspective.
I run a team of about 30 software developers for my job. Getting this type of support, and frequent beta builds, is not standard industry practice -- it is well above standard practice. One has to have the expectation going in that a beta will have warts -- all software does. If you don't want to help test, don't want to post bugs, I suspect that is just fine -- but don't bitch about lack of attention or lack of support on this product. I am sure this development team has some sort of "triage process" for inbound defects, and they want to deliver the most bang for the buck with each build. Your particular issue may, or may not, rise to the level of a good investment of time for the development team. Be humble and live with it. If you knew what the industry was like, complaining about not getting your itch scratched on this product makes you come off sounding like a not very nice person. (<-- This development team won't say that, but I can say that. I've been in the software development trenches for a long time.)
Secondly, consider how fortunate we all are. Many moons ago I ran the development team that supported the US Military's National Simulation Center. We wrote war games for the military to use in training and planning. Just to be clear, if this product had been available twenty to twenty-five years ago the Government would have seized it, classified it, and the development team would have been moved to a very nice "undisclosed location" and kept knee deep in gin and hookers, paid a ton, and invited to improve it even more. (Of course, those were the old days before everything got politically correct.) While this simulation doesn't have all the things needed for a full-blown training or planning tool, you can bet your sweet ass that right now several counties' navies are using this product for those purposes, and handling the other training and planning tasks with a bevy of spreadsheets and manual tools.
Wise up .... this is a great product that has great support. Get your friends to buy it!
Regards,
Feltan

Need bump Feltan's great post and it even made me sign up for the board! Everyone should should spend the minute on reading and appreciating it. I also have a background of leading UI programs and now recently moved over to lead systems engineering. Who cares what I do every Monday to Friday, but there are something everyone should know to at least accommodate their expectations on how SW programs work. Meaning, any SW programs that have a life expectancy.
Feltan mentioned on producing "the most bang for the buck" which means basically how easy it is to fix a bug in adjacent to how many people truly suffer from it. It is sometimes almost impossible to tell how many people get affected to any particular bug until a longer period of time has AND the company have means to gather it.
Determining how bad the problem is for the users is difficult, but the formula for "the most bang for the buck" has the other main factor that is more easily dealt with. That is the how easily a problem can be solved, part.
Getting any problem is really easy to be resolved, if you are able to tell the developer how to reproduce it! Any developer who can reproduce the problem can tell the root cause within five minutes. They request the replays for that purpose in mind.

The range rings and this one are very cool...
"On the unit status window, the assigned mission description (if applicable) is now a hyperlink. Clicking it brings up the mission editor window and selects this mission. This accelerates the process of quickly checking up the mission details of the selected unit/group."

Thanks guys! Real life has kept me away from CMANO for a wee while, so I see you've been busy as usual and provided a sizeable learning curve to clamber up again!

Love the hyperlink feature on the unit status window. I use it a lot! This game has developed into something really special.

+1 to this.
The interface has come along wonderfully. Add to the above, the ability to view all the groups or units weapons,
color-coding unit statuses in mission editor, sonobouy/reference point visibility options, etc., etc.,
and you guys have done a great job.
