NF 18 Ant Eaters Revenge tips?

Post by Dannyp19 »

After a long pause with this one Im diving in again... and still getting creamed.[:(]
If anyone has completed this tough nut and had a comfortable score could you lend me tip or two.
Ive always stayed with the original start times and they go when its their time. Target selection is a mother in this one. I assume the Varks have the runways, and everybody else is either DEAD, CAP, SEAD, etc.,
This is probably the hardest scenario Ive ever done in CMANO.

This one it very tough. You will need to use terrain masking and you will take casualties. The Varks are at the end of their time with technological superiority in 94 and the Sovs have some nasty surprises.

Airborne Rifles started an AAR on this one a while back, not finished but it might give you an idea: http://grogheads.com/forums/index.php?topic=20168.0

Yeah, this one is really tough and you will take losses. I need to finish up the AAR, but basically you need to use the line of hills to the southeast of Kef to mask the approach of your successive waves of SEAD flights. Use your Prowlers an Spark Varks to support the SEAD raids and launch your volleys of HARMs as absolutely close to the SA-10s/20s as you can, just popping up over the ridge and then burner it back south. It takes some real micromanagement. Only one or two HARMs will get through initially but each successive wave will weaken the defenses a little bit. I also used a low level F-117 dipping up above the hills to locate the exact position of the SAMs with its FLIR to target the CALCMs from the B-52s. That isn’t a realistic strategy, since you would need to program the CALCMs before taking off I believe, but they delivered my heaviest blow to Kef’s defenses. You also want to make sure each strike going in has a good A2A escort as the Sovs will keep putting up fighters until you shut the runways down.

That sounds encouraging. Is a later one going to be called "I Wanna Be The The Commander"? [:'(]

That scenario is brutal! Timing all the disparate units in waves of comprehensive strikes is the biggest challenge I found. As others have said, terrain masking is important so make sure your relief layer view is on.
