Is it worth it ?

Shifting Sands traces the history of many Arab-Israeli conflicts: from the sidelines of the Suez crisis, through the lightning Six-Day War, the guerilla-like War Of Attrition and the strategic surprise of the Yom Kippur War, all the way to the historic Osirak raid and the epic air battle over the Bekaa Valley

Is it worth it ?

Does the dlc brings new features to the game (like COW did) or just a new campaign ?
How is the campaign ? What are your general impressions ?
Thx

If you are interested in the air war of the Arab-Israeli Wars you should absolutely have it.
The campaign is not a storytelling like Northern Inferno (I have still to play Chains).

It's more of a progression of the history of air campaigns in the Middle East over many years. So far I'm enjoying it.

Yes the Israeli-Arab conflict is definitely of interest to me. Would say it's even my favorite theater.
Guess I will get it sooner or later then. Thanks.

The battles of Shifting Sands are intense and appear to have been painstakingly researched.

Hi guys, Im the DLC Author of Shifting Sands, thanks for all your kind words, the longest part of building a DLC or Scenario is the time it takes on research which is a considerable amount of the time put into building it

Yes is awesome. Lots of bombing action and strike planning. Probably most value of all DLC.
Don't call it a comeback...

One more question: can all scenarios be played from both side (Israelis and Arabs?). Or is there a preferred side ?

last question: can I get a discount as I already own CMANO main game ? If yes, how ?
Or should I pay the full price of EUR 19.99 ?

You must play most scenarios as the Israelis (making the two sides playable in those kinds of in depth campaigns would probably make it a headache for the designer)

And, yes, I'm afraid you have to pay the DLC in full.

But all in all, it's an excellent DLC.

Thanks. Yes, makes sense that it's one-sided only.
And a pity that no discount for core game owners ;-)
But still looks good !

I think you'll find it's a good value, especially when you take into account the myriad updates to the game, user interface and databases that we've gotten for free along the way.

Can you confirm that Shifting Sands DLC activates the comprehensive aircraft damage feature?

I seem to have read it somewhere this is the case but I cannot seem to find the reference again. The reason is I do not have CoW (I would prefer SS) and so many of the newer community scenarios require the activated aircraft damage feature to play.

Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Reg.

I already have comprehensive aircraft damage from COW so I can't confirm you if SS does too ...

I took advantage of the Xmas sale and Shifting Sands DLC does activate the advanced features such as comprehensive aircraft damage and cargo features.

Excellent. [:)] I can run all the community scenarios now!!

Cheers,
Reg.

I'm seriously enjoying Shifting Sands too. Got it just over a year ago even though I knew (know) next to nothing about modern warfare unlike most everybody else on this forum. I'm working my way through all the scenarios in order (skipping the ahistorical ones) replaying them if I didn't think I did well enough on the first playthrough or if I think I missed some feature or 'point' of the scenario. I'm finally on the last one, 'Bekaa Valley', which I'll try today.

Anyway. it's been fun and I've learned a lot. Since I started I bought the full game and just a week ago I got Silent Service so I'll tackle that one next.
