[RESOLVED] Sands License Issue

Post by DWReese »

I loaded Sands, I can see the scenarios, but I am getting a message that says that it needs to be a licensed product. I entered the code when I installed Sands. What's going on?

Yes, I have exactly the same issue. I tried the "Re-register" option but still no-go. The game is the download version, not the steam one.

Hi everyone,

Could you please confirm what you can see in the installer at the 'Serial Number' stage?

You should see Command: Shifting Sands within the large white box underneath "Setup has detected a valid serial for:", if you are not, you will need to select Command: Shifting Sands from the drop-down list, enter your serial into the text box next to the 'Check Serial' button and then press the button.

If a valid Serial is entered then Command: Shifting Sands will appear within the large white box.

The box did appear. I did enter the number. And, then the download occurred. When finished, the Sands Scenarios appeared. When I try to open one, then I get the No License issue message.

Do you want me to re-install it over it?

I did select "Shifting Sands" from the drop-down list and then entered the serial number. I then clicked the "Check serial" button and both the drop-down list and serial text box went blank. No message that the check was successful or not. I didn't notice anything in the "large white box" because I own all the extensions and the list overflows the box. So I thought something went wrong and killed the installer. I then tried again, selected "Shifting Sands", entered the serial number, and clicked the "Next" button skipping the "Check serial" step. The installation went well but the new scenarios were locked.

I did it again and clicked on the "Check serial" button this time. I then scrolled down the "large white box" and saw "Command: Shifting Sands" at the very bottom. I clicked "Next" and the new scenarios were unlocked. So all is well. Just less than transparent UI.

Thanks.

How can I register Shifting Sands without installing anything. I already have installed 972.6 and I can see the "Shifting Sands" campaign in the dialogue box under Campaigns. However, when I click the campaign it does not ask for a serial number.

I fixed my using the same method that you described.

The Build, however, still says 972.2. I believe that it should say 972.6.

Hi Doug,

The v1.13 installer has the Build 972.2 exe because that was the latest version when the installer was put together. To get the latest "official" update which is Build 972.4 you can use the "Update" function on the launcher app. Alternatively you can just grab B972.6 from this here forum.

Cheers.

Hi Dimitris,

I just want to verify this with you. before I installed Sands, I had 972.6. After I installed Sands, it now says 972.2.

From what I gather from you, if I want the latest, then I should re-install Build 972.6 OVER the newly-installed one that I just got from installing sands, is that correct?

I had the invalid serial issue and resolved it by typing the serial instead of cutting and pasting as I have done with every other game I have bought from Matrix. No idea why typing made a difference but it did.

BTW, having updated using the launcher I am now at 972.4!

Sometimes when copying the serial number you are not only copying the serial itself but also hidden characters on either side of the serial number.
It's a quite common issue.

The problem I found is that if you don't hit 'Check Serial' before clicking next your serial number won't be recorded.

Too bad there wasn't an instruction to that effect. It would have saved a lot of wear and tear on my usually jovial demeanor. Just saying. I don't remember having to go through this nonsense with Chains of War or Northern Inferno. Things are supposed to get better, not worse.

I am pretty versed at cutting and pasting matrix serial numbers. I have probably done it over a hundred times with never an issue. The cut and paste was not working. Tried it multiple ways and with multiple computers. It didn't work. Something changed somewhere.

Just did a clean install of Command with the Shifting Sands installer cutting and pasting every single serial without a problem. A bit tedious, but worked without issue for me. I keep my serials in a text file ... not sure if that makes a difference or not.
