C:MO Will Not Load After Update....

Happy New Year, all! Hoping someone may be able to help me out with a literal 'show-stopper'. I've taken a look back through the reported issues and not been able to find anything.

I downloaded the 1.04.114752.02 update (running on Win10) and this is what I got:

*The load screen changed from the small 'F-35' screen back to the old 'spinning globe' screen.
*The game will not load. The screen will run for about thirty seconds, blink, and then continue to run. I have let it go for several minutes, but it still does not load.
*I can't close the load screen, even with Task Manager - that is, it will not even let me switch to TM to close it, even if I already have TM open. The only way to definitely shut it off is to restart the computer.
*I've tried re-installing the 1.04 upgrade and installing BETA - Update 1.05.12651.00, but to no effect.
*I have Chains of War loaded separately from CMO, and that will load immediately, but it runs very slowly with a great deal of stuttering.

This is the first time I've ever had a problem like this with CMO, and I'm not at all sure what the problem may be. Up to the 1.04 upgrade it ran as smooth as silk. It's been suggested to me to wait for the big update coming and see if that can sort it out. Failing that, the only thing I can think of is a complete uninstall/reinstall, but I'd really like to avoid that if I can.

Has anyone else seen this issue, or have any ideas on what the problem may be? Thanks very much in advance!

It sounds like you have loaded 1.04.114752.02 on top of a1.05 Beta version??? You can't go from the Beta to a 1.04. You should have kept them separate.

To fix and return to Beta, you will need to install the separate 'Tiny' update on the 1.04 build and then the last beta update.

They are ('MY PAGE', 'File downloads' under CMO game), with the exception of the very latest build of beta files.

So if you wanted a new clean, or refreshed install of 1147.xx (stable branch)
1.You would run the Installer v1.02.114714 CMO-MultiSetup-v1.02.114714.zip package. (1147 full installer)
2.You can then run the Command Multi-DLC Installer CMO-MultiDLCSetup-Latest.zip (at this point...or do it at the end, most do it at end) if needed to install and or authorize your purchased dlc packages.
3.Then you would run the [PC] Update v1.04.114752.02 updater package (update 1147.x to 1147.52.02).

At that point you have latest stable 1147 branch (1147.52).

If you want to turn that copy into beta... which you are then committed to for that folder structure (or if you want it to stay separate choose a different folder to install too from here on out) you would:
0. [if doing separate folder for the beta otherwise SKIP] installer v1.02.114714 CMO-MultiSetup-v1.02.114714.zip package. (1147 full installer to the new chosen folder name)
1. Run the "BETA - Update 1.05.12651.00" full installer (aka "tiny"..aka ~12gb).
2. Run the DLC enabler again if needed pointing at this folder
3. Then copy over over the files in the latest forum post beta zip file posting which is 1301.1 (released today: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 1&t=391626), to said installation folder, when prompted say yes to overwriting whatever already exists.
At that point you transformed stable into latest beta, or if you did a install to separate folder for the beta (recommended) you have latest up to date beta.

*If doing a totally clean install (of either) you will be missing DB3k488 though as it somehow didn't make it into any of the installers, so if you have a older install might want to snag that and drop it in the db folders of beta or any clean fresh re-install of 1147.x

If you have the space, I suggest keeping them separated into different instances for now. (ie I have D:\games\CMO for 1147 branch, and d:\games\CMO_Tiny for the beta branch)

KH,

When the new, official version comes out, will there be a simple (as in almost automatic--one step method) way to convert my current Beta version back into the new updated official version?

I'd be speculating. But if I were to speculate I'd say probably they will probably update the full-installer to just install and overwrite everything necessary for whatever build is that milestone marker that's deemed new baseline for stable.

Sort of like how the original release full installer later was later replaced with 1147.14 baseline full installer, I suspect 13xx something will become the normal full installer baseline, once the "beta" branch reaches maturity. D's hinted that time may be approaching soon. Meaning your beta is no longer beta, and then from there we proceed with normal beta zips with periodic official updaters like we always have at milestone deemed particularly stable or coincide with dlc\live\etc additions.) /2cents speculation.

That would be logical. We can only hope. Using the Beta, and constantly adding changes to it, is like going deeper and deeper into a forest, and never really knowing if you can find your way back out. <lol>

FWIW, the latest stable 1147 branch (1147.52) is what Steam is showing on my splash screen.

Kev, yes that is the correct current and up to date non-beta version.
