1.06 upgrade - is it for me???

Post by Tom Konczal »

I currently have the 1.05.1307.19 CMO game system on my computer. What is the 1.06 variant? Can I use it or upgrade to it from my current system and what does it do?
Thanks

Yes, I read that it is a 64-bit version and I currently have a 32 zip version. However, I am not a computer geek. My computer is 13 years old with a 256K graphic card and I want to make sure I don’t mess up this great game by trying to convert it to something my computer can’t handle.

It might be good mention that kind of stuff right away to get to the point quickly. You will have some struggles with a very old GPU like that. But if its already running the 32-bit, you can give it a try. You can go back to the 32-bit. btw, its not the 64-bit change that will be your issue, its the new DX11 that might be the issue.

Also, when asking a question whether you run any game, it would be good to mention your PC specs to avoid a lot wasted time in back and forth questions. This is especially true if you are running Windows 7.

Thank you. I read about the Windows 7 problems but I have Windows 10 and 24 gigs of memory. I’m glad to hear that if it doesn’t work I can return to the 32-bit 1.05 version. I assume I would do that by reinstalling that update over the 1.06. Correct?

I know on Steam there is a setting to revert. Not sure with the Matrix version. You would have to uninstall and reinstall.

I would check your graphics card that it supports DX11. If it doesn't, there isn't much you can do.

I just checked and the 32-bit version is still up on Matrix.

Since you are here and are obviously knowledgeable, what would be the procedure to go BACK to 1307.19 if you have already upgraded to the new 64-bit version? Is it just a question of installing 1307.19 back on top of the existing files? I'm sure that some might like to know how to do it, even if they don't actually ever do it. It's comforting for some to have the knowledge.

To play it safe, uninstall CMO and then just reinstall 1307. Its on the Mypage on matrix.com.

Can I make a long-term suggestion? Check out what available for download on the mypage page. Just a quick look at that should help.
