Wooden Leg - Refueling mess

Post by TheCabal »

Hello folks,

read the updated documentation manual of CMO which is a blast. There is a step by step walkthrough for the Wooden Leg and some other scenarios which I'm doing to get back in. Link to the manual:
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 4#p5184704
PDF shows page at 215 (page numbered itself as 207)

The refuelling part is a total mess. I tell the groups to refuel (right click, refuel if possible -> select tankers automatically) when near the tanker and they do it. But there is always someone in the group which doesn't refuel. Others continue flying and the formation is spread out like a total mess.

Despite this:
While the manual shows the priorities looking like that:

Mine is like this:

The savegame with updated flight plan and everything set in the savefile (attachment).

I'm extremly confused. I remember posting here regarding a Tanker Wars scenario years ago, which had units without NSM missiles; thus played without teeth against longrange missile boats. Honestly, to this date not knowing why... and what to do except of editing the mission, installing NSM missile racks and including the missiles. I just got to know this thx to an old AAR and a YT vid. I was an hour or two into this scenario when I found out... completely clueless that something was off. In the Wooden Leg scenario... I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if it's a bug.

I excepted the formations to stay together in order to fly this coordinated attack while the sweepers come afterwards.

The updated manual is a community effort. Its completely open to anyone that wants to change, update, or mod it. I have mostly moved from it due to lack of appreciation. Anyone can work on it.

Still a great effort man! Id still expect a different outcome regarding the refuelling phase; with or without the revised manual. Also, the priority doesnt look as it should be (revised manual) as well.

Consider my appreciation to be silent, I found it incredibly helpful!

Any dev here to help me clarify the refueling mess happening and if the priority window looks like it should look like?

My target priority window looks the same; not sure what the means. Refueling can be tricky. You don't have do it the way the manual indicates. I have played Wooden Leg many times now. Best I've gotten is minor victory. You might have to micromanage the refueling a little bit. It is possible to get all the F-15's to the target and back to base. Keep at it. Good luck.

I'm not a dev but, I have stayed at a Holiday Inn.

Refueling still feels like a bugged behavior. The savefile is still attached for Dimi and his crew. Its a simple Refuel-scenario and should work.

Yes, some refuelings are flawed, especially with flight plans. We are still in the process of improving flight plans and there is still work to be done in this area.

Thanks.

Refueling worked better before it was changed to make it fly better, but with a little adjustment and if the MK82s hit we can reach the Triumph
Test this save, planes take off, refuel, strike and RTB
Wooden Leg,Typhoon.zip
(145.75 KiB) Downloaded 4 times
Some adjustments:
Flight of 2 planes
2 receivers Max / tankers
WRA
F15D / MK82:
2 targets > 6 MK82 per target
6 bombs / targets
F15D / GBU15:
6 targets > 1 GBU15 per target

Flight plan / ATO:
Adding a refueling point
Estimation of the position of the tankers,
Estimation of the number of tankers needed,
Estimation of the time of the rendezvous between the tankers and the strikers
Estimation of the time when the tankers are no longer needed in the area (Adjustment of the time of deactivation of their mission with RTB, I put 11h in this scenario) .... .
I made a video to explain how to modify it to manage refueling:
