Creating minefield with editor raises error message

Post by Quark73 »

Hi,
when a mine field is created by using the editor a message as below pops up:
Mineplacement.png
Mineplacement.png (6.77 KiB) Viewed 467 times
The number in the message is always N/2+1. With N = number of mines to add. I tested it so far with 10, 20, 30 and 9. No reason is shown.

EDIT:
"Remove mines from designated area" doesn't work either. No means: no mines get removed, no error message.

I'm not able to reproduce either of these issues, what kind of mines are you trying to place?

- I just defined an area Ctrl + RMB define Area Rectangle
- Editor/Minefields/create minefield in designated area
- chose the default selected mine from dialogue
- How many: 20 and press ADD button

It places always n/2 +1 mines

Remove mines doesn't do anything.

Unfortunately I can't replicate your inability to remove the mines but I can replicate the inputted amount not being placed

IIRC we deliberately set the logic to "TRY X-times to lay mines" rather than "eternally loop until X mines are laid".

The idea was that, if the location was for some reason particularly unsuitable (e.g. wrong depth), following the latter logic could lock up the game entirely.

I tried various mines in various numbers in different shapes of minefields. It always places n/2 + 1 mines. More than unsuitable condition for placement this looks to me like a problem with the loop increment or the loop itself.

I can create minefields, but I cannot remove them. I've attached a scenario file.

Don't know if I'm just doing something wrong, but I think I'm following the instructions properly...create or highlight reference points, go to editor/minefields menu, click "remove minefield"...nothing happens.

Thanks for the help.
