Post by LittleDogmaOne »

Orders for Cmdr Carrier Air Wing Fifteen (CVW-15)
Situation

Red targets are located in the B-17 bombing range, 25nm southeast of NAS Fallon. The bombing range is at an elevation of 1250m and includes a myriad of targets including an airfield complex, an industrial complex, a missile assembly site and various air defence sites.

Enemy Forces

Red forces operate various modern Warsaw Pact weapon systems including Frontal Aviation tactical fighters and mobile air defences as well as fixed strategic air defences and early warning radars.

1. MiG-21 and MiG-23 fighters.

2. SA-2, SA-3 and SA-6 surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems.

3. Various types of anti-aircraft artillery (AAA).

4. Long-range early warning radars.

Friendly Forces

At your disposal are the figher, light and medium-attack, tanker, early warning and electronic warfare squadrons of CVW-15. In total about 60 fighter and attack aircraft and 12 support aircraft. About half of these have been readied to take part in this first air strike of the day

Monday, February 21, 1983

0900 hours, VF-51 Screaming Eagles were launched, and then enter designated Red One/MIGCAP. VF-51 Screaming Eagles successfully downed 8 MIGs (Four MIG 23 ML G and Four MIG 21 BIS N) At approximately 915 hours, VF-111 Sundownwers were successfully launched, and then enter designated Red One/MIGCAP as well. VF-111 Sundowners relieved VF-51 Screaming Eagles from AAW patrol. VAQ-134 Garudas NE 604 was launched, and entered designated Red One/MIGCAP then conducting Electronic warfare against SAM/AAA defense. VAQ-134 successfully spoofed/neutralized SAM missiles. Red One was declared all clear, and no threats from MIGS for duration of AAW operation. Unfortunately, one of SAM missiles successfully defeated VAQ-134 electronic warfare, and took one of VF-111 F-14. CSAR was dispatched, and rescue is on the way.

At approximately 0930 hours, as VF-51 Screaming Eagles declared that MIGs are no longer a threat, VAW-114 Hormel Hog NE 600 successfully launched, and entered designated Green One/Support mission (north of NAS Fallon) EAW radar turned on, and go hot.

At approximately 0940 hours, VA-105 Gunslingers, VA-52 Knightriders, and VA-37 Bulls were launched, and entered designated Red Two/SEAD/Land Strike operation. VA-105, VA-52 Knightriders, and VA-37 Bulls successfully eliminated RED Force AAA/SAM site, and other target(s) as well. VA-105 Gunslingers, VA-52 Knightriders, and VA-37 Bulls were ordered to return to the base, and re-arm/re-fuel.

Mission Accomplished.

Great AAR Dogma One, thanks for sharing!

You did a pretty good job defeating those SAMs, suspect this isn't your first time as CAG [&o]

BTW, in the next version of the tutorial scenario the A-7s will have 4x Shrike loadouts instead of the 2x Shrikes + CBUs. So you will have 24 ARMs at your disposal rather than just 12.

Sweet, never had much luck with the cbus, and the a7's charging in fall to surviving sams too often, just as soon they shot off the shrikes and winchester/rtb, nice change to the scenario.

Try to set the A-7s to a manual altitude of 500m or so. They actually drop the CBUs then, and are very effective with them, too.
