I honestly expected this scenario to be tougher.
Other than some nervous moments when STANAVFORLANT was approached by Badger D reconnaissance aircraft (and in expectation of bombers to follow - they never came), it was pretty uneventful.
The Soviet SAG was a pushover. They were quickly located by P-3 Orion maritime reconnaissance aircraft and never posed a threat to the phibgru or STANAVFORLANT. A single flight of 4x Buccaneers laid waste to the entire group with TV guided AJ.168 Martel air to surface missiles. The AS.37 Martel anti-radar versions and Bullpup armed F-104G Starfighters were not needed.
I also expected to be ambushed by submarines or missile craft lurking along the Norwegian coast, but here again, the transit south was uneventful.
I guess I should count my blessings. [:)]
