The MK54 HAAWC Mod 0 Torpedo in the DB has a range of 8 miles, and the coast time is 63 sec.

According to this article, it should glide for 7-10 minutes if dropped from 30000 ft.
https://www.militaryaerospace.com/artic ... rpedo.html

I'm not sure exactly what values to plug into this Glide Distance Calculator for the glide ratio, but using the defaults, and assuming a launch altitude of 30000 ft and a speed of 400 NM/H, the glide time is ~7.5 minutes and the distance would be about 50 miles. The DB has a launch altitude of 45000 ft, which works out to ~75-80 miles.
http://www.csgnetwork.com/glideratiocalc.html

Given that the GBU-39 has a range of ~45nm, I would think that the HAAWC should have a significantly greater range than the 8km in the DB.

The Greek F-16V (#4739) is missing it's ASPIS II EW set.

My proposed changes to the DB:

AN/ALR-56M -> AN/ALR-93(V)1
Add AN/ALQ-187 I-DIAS
AN/ALE-47 CMDS x 2 [45 Cartridges] -> AN/ALE-47 CMDS x 4 [90 Cartridges] (These F-16V's are upgrades to existing HAF Falcons so they should retain their previous CM mounts)

#3357 - RIM-174A-2 ERAM SM-6MR Blk IA [Dual I]

Only the SM-6 Dual I introduces a capability to intercept ballistic missiles in the terminal phase of their trajectory while retaining its ability to counter cruise missiles and other air breathing threats, hence the designation SM-6 Dual I. "SM-6 Dual I capability is being added to provide Sea-Based Terminal capability against short-range ballistic missiles." (4) In some documents, of all the SM-6 variants present, only the Dual I is listed as an Aegis BMD interceptor. (2)(4) On another note, the SM-6 Block IA and the SM-6 Dual I are not the same missile as depicted in the game. More on that below.

Name:

#3357 - RIM-174A-2 ERAM SM-6MR Blk IA [Dual I] --> RIM-174A ERAM SM-6 Dual I (Remove Anti-Ship, ABM from side note. Add Anti-ASBM to side note)

Sensors / EW:

- Remove Surface Search ability from Active Radar Seeker

Valid Targets:

- Remove Surface Ships

-----------------------------------------------

Request: RIM-174A ERAM SM-6 Blk IA

The Block IA builds on the technology of the Block I and according to this (5) source also on the Dual I and adds GPS targeting to the missile to engage surface targets.

Date:

- IOC projected 2018 (5)

Sensors / EW:

- Add Surface Search ability to Active Radar Seeker

Properties:

- Add Weapon - INS w/ GPS Navigation (5)

Valid Targets:

- Surface Ships

Updated DB version of Chinese Z-9C

Could you add a new version that comes with a light ASuW loadout? Following the first PLAN anti-piracy deployments in 2008 and 2009, a clouple of naval Z-9s were modified to allow the aircraft to carry one 19x57mm rocket pod plus a PC-1AY 12,7mm Gun Pod. Other visible changes include the relocation of the FLIR turret. Since then, it seems like a larger batch of Z-9Cs has been converted to this standard.

I tried to pinpoint an In-service date for this version, without success. The best I could come up with is that the earliest appearance of this version dates back to 3. March 2010 with the deployment of the 5th Chinese Naval Escort Flotilla to the Gulf of Aden. All previous Escort Flotillas, excluding the 4th, are known to have deployed with the Ka-27 or later the common Z-9 version.

Hey what about adding the B-1R as a hypothetical aircraft? It was an upgrade for the B-1b consisting of changing the engines out to allow sustained mach 2.2 flight and the installation of a powerful AESA radar (likely the AN/APG-63) and air to air missiles.

I would like to request some updates of the three Hydra 70mm rocket variants in the database (#1929, #3175, #2597).

Currently, all three have the warhead: "#305 - Hydra 70mm Rocket (8 DP)." This damage value (8 DP) is the same as the 17.6# Hellfire warhead even though Hydra only has a 9.3# warhead. While I do not know exactly how damage values are calculated, I would suggest reducing it to around 4 DP. This is an extremely important change for antisurface scenarios as the current Hydra damage value means that it is unrealistically effective at sinking ships.

I would also suggest that the current Hydra APKWS entry (#2597) have the following changes:
Platforms: Rotary-wing only
Range: 0.8 - 2.7 nm (current 0.2 - 2.0 nm)
Launch Speed: 0 - 150 knots (current n/a)
Weight: 15.8 kg (current 7 kg)
(Source: https://www.baesystems.com/en-us/downlo ... 478635.pdf)

Finally, there should be a new entry for a fixed-wing only version of APKWS with the following differences:
Range: 1.1 - 5.9 nm
Launch Altitude: 0 - 25,000 feet
Launch Speed: 180 - 550 knots
(Source: https://www.baesystems.com/en-us/downlo ... 478508.pdf)

The current LCS database entries need numerous changes. Although I understand this will likely be a lot of work, the current entries do not accurately reflect the ship's capabilities and LCS is a vital part of the future USN. Here are my suggestions starting with the simplest.

1. None of the five LCS database entries (#1839, #2594, #3089, #1840, #2595) currently have magazines for their 4x 12.7mm/50 MG.

2. The Independence-class LCS (#1840, #2595) should not have the Nulka decoy system. Although there are indeed internet sources claiming this, the official Navy Fact file makes no mention of it and photographs show no Nulka installed. (sources: https://www.navy.mil/navydata/fact_disp ... d=587&ct=2 and https://www.navy.mil/management/photodb ... 01-998.JPG)

3. The entry "LCS 17 Indianapolis" (#3089) is dated 2017, although she was not launched until 2018 and will likely not commissioned until 2020.

4. The three "2017" entries (#2594, #3089, #2595) are all equipped with the LCS Hellfire Mission Module. This module has only just completed testing and is not expected to be operational until 2019-2020. (source: https://news.usni.org/2019/01/25/lcs-mi ... ue-to-slip - 6th paragraph just below the 2nd picture)

5. Those same three entries (#2594, #3089, #2595) are also equipped with the CAPTAS 4 Sonar. Although CAPTAS 4 was considered, the sonar that was finally chosen was the Raytheon DART. This sonar is also still in testing. (source: https://www.navy.mil/submit/display.asp?story_id=107995)

6. I would suggest replacing the three "2017" entries with 6 separate "2020" entries - Freedom Base, Freedom SUW, Freedom ASW, Independence Base, Independence SUW, and Independence ASW (the 3 Freedom entries should include the TRS-4D radar and SeaRAM launcher from the current "LCS 17" entry as these are planned to be backfit across the class). The reason for this change is that the current entries have LCS carrying everything simultaneously, when the systems are actually split across different mission packages:

Base:
Radar, SeaRAM, 57mm gun, 12.7mm guns

SUW:
Hellfire Module, 2x 30mm guns, Helicopter Magazine with Hellfire (and probably APKWS).
(source: https://www.navy.mil/navydata/fact_disp ... d=437&ct=2)

ASW:
DART Sonar, TB-37 Sonar, Nixie Towed Decoy, Helicopter Magazine with Mk54 Torpedoes
(source: https://www.navy.mil/navydata/fact_disp ... d=412&ct=2)

Minor error in DB3000 Weapon_403 SA-10a 5V55K

Post by CV60 »

The database shows DB3000 Weapon_403 SA-10a (5V55K) as a TVM (track via missile) guidance system. This is incorrect. Unlike subsequent versions of the SA-10 system, the 5V55K/S-300PT system uses command guidance. see https://www.ausairpower.net/APA-Grumble-Gargoyle.html, which reads "The first generation of the 5V55K missile was command link guided, following the design philosophy of the S-75/SA-2 and S-125/SA-3, with a cited range of 25 nautical miles and altitude limits between 80 ft and 80,000 ft." THe command guidance in the S-300PT system is also confirmed by Jane's Land Warfare Platforms: Artillery & Air Defense, "S-300P", 17 May 2016; and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-300_missile_system at footnote 12,

Battleship Novorossiysk (1949-1955).
Just... please think about that glorious ship, used as a training ship in the Soviet Navy (1949-55).
It was completed in 1914 for the Kingdom of Italy as "Giulio Cesare". Recommissioned/modified in 1937 (it served in Royal Italian Navy in WWII). Then it was sell to Soviet Union in 1949 to pay part of Italian War Debts towards Soviet Union.
The ship was armed with a main battery of thirteen 305 mm/46 Model 1909 guns in three triple-gun turret and two twin-gun turrets. The secondary battery comprised eighteen 120 mm (4.7 in) guns, all mounted the sides of the hull. Giulio Cesare was also armed with fourteen 76 mm (3.0 in) guns. She was equipped with three submerged 450 mm (17.7 in) torpedo tubes. The belt armor was 250 mm thick.
After the end of World War I, the number of 50-caliber 76 mm guns was reduced to 13, mounted on the turret tops, and six new 40-caliber 76 mm anti-aircraft (AA) guns were installed abreast the aft funnel. In addition two license-built 2-pounder AA guns were mounted on the forecastle deck.
When she was sell to Soviet Union all Italian light AA guns were replaced by eighteen 37 mm 70-K AA guns in six twin mounts and six singles. Soviet Union wants to replace her with Soviet built 305 mm guns, but the ship sunk in 1955.

It would be great in some mine sweep scenario in the early cold war era: it was sunk by a German WWII mine in Sevastopol in 1955, with the tragical loss of 608 sailors. But some uncontrolled rumors says that a group of italian navy veteran frogmen sabotaged the ship for retaliation: and this is great for a Scenario! If the developers will add this Ship (and perhaps some post wwII italian MAS vehicles) I promise I'll create a scenario about this highly fictional interpretation [;)]

I'm not sure if this has been posted already, but as far as I am aware the Blackburn Buccaneer should be carrier capable. At the moment it is not.

The DB3k only includes RAF (And SAAF) Buccaneers since the RN retired theirs in 1978 with the decomissioning of Ark Royal.

Like other carrier capable aircraft in the DB3k, the tag is only applied if the operating service/country routinely uses them aboard carriers; e.g. Australian F/A-18s are not marked as carrier capable but USN F/A-18s are.
