New Scenarios - Breaking the Blockade: Ukraine Crisis 2022 (V1 & V2)

Post by TempestII »

Hello all,
I've released Breaking the Blockade: Ukraine Crisis 2022 in two versions. In both, you are tasked with escorting five merchant vessels from the Port of Odessa to the Bosphorus Strait under the threat of Russian attack prior to the current grain deal. Both were built with / updated to 1267.1 and DB495.

V1 keeps mostly to authentic NATO and Russian forces in the theatre of operations, but I did have to break the Montreux Convention to make the scenario survivable. You have access to the USS Zumwalt and a DEW-armed Flt III Arleigh Burke, but otherwise most other NATO units were in the vicinity or could likely be surged there if necessary in June / July 2022. It should be noted that this scenario uses the old OODA values.

V2, on the other hand, contains numerous hypothetical units including a USN BBG, two USN CG(X)s, USN F-14E AST-21s, and RAF F-35As for NATO; for Russia, they have access to more SAMs, SSMs, fifth-gen fighters, their Pyotr Veliky battlecruiser and the Project 23000E "Shtorm" aircraft carrier (or rather the Ulyanovsk CVN masquerading as it!).

More details are available on the Steam pages, as well as in the Briefing packages. You can download from Steam, or from here.

I like it, difficult scenario. I have only played V2 so far. I just wanted to drop a short note since it doesn't seem to have any feedback yet. I'll try to write up something with more substance sometime soon and after a few more tries.

Great scenario,
Unfortunately I have start over LOL. On V1
Not sure why the hostilities started and the missiles were all over the place before I got a message from HQ (no suprise).
- On my pc for the side briefing the letters were white on white background, prob a setting on my side.

Thx for this nice play,
regards GJ

It could be because your units are entering Exclusion/ NFZ before the random hostilities time or just because of a stray missile as the Ukrainians and RF are engaged. Generally I found this didn't happen often though once I downgraded the Snake Island zone to a warning message only. NATO aircraft seem to infringe that no matter what I do!

The white on white briefing slide is my fault - I had several complaints in a previous scenario that black on grey text was unreadable, so now I use white. It works great for the actual Intro and Briefing slides, but not so much if you try to read it after the scen has started. Personally, I always save the briefings and subsequent important messages to a Notepad file as I'm playing.

One thing that I do like doing is providing a good amount of pop-up messages as I personally think it adds to the immersion.
