Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.2.2 test)
This scenario is based on the recent situation in Middle East. The US fleet must directly face the threat of Iran A2/AD systems.
Notice: I made the CARSTRKGRU 2 auto-detectable to simulate the effect of SAR/EO/IR/ELINT satellite constellation.
Looking forward to your reply and enjoy the game!

Re: Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.1 test)
I played it and it was it was no time to hang around. Nice.
I forgot to let the SM-6 fire only on ballistic missiles..that cost me a cruiser..
A couple of suggestions:
- There is always a sub with a US carrier. This also gives options..
- You could incorporate a Iranian Kilo sub into the ballgame
- A lot of aircraft of the US Air Force but also on the Carrier are not ready. I find it hard to believe that you sail into such an area coming from the US and not have your F-18's ready. This prevented a lot of aircraft flying into action. So I swithed to edit mode and got some A-10's extra (yes I cheated and also changed the loadouts on the F-18's and F-15E's).
-I also saw A-10's deployed in this region on internet, who have lots of options for Iranian small boats, which was nice to try out.
- And tankers are always somewhere there.
- Please look in the database and see how many UAS Iran has. You can probably use them more. or the Su-24's.
But I enjoyed it, thank you for sharing!

It's great to see you enjoy my scenario. I thought the SM-6 would always automatically intercept ballistic missiles? If not wrong.I played it and it was it was no time to hang around. Nice.
I forgot to let the SM-6 fire only on ballistic missiles..that cost me a cruiser..
And it would be better if you could let me see your expenditure and losses. So that I could better rethink the balance of game.
Sure you felt you are out of time because I want the enemy to be fierce enough.
By the way, you pointed out that there are a lot of elements are missing. For that matter, my intention is to limit the scale of the scenario, reduce the complexity and make the scenario more targeted. Anyway I will try adding more elements to it.
The addition of submarines certainly makes the battle more challenging.A couple of suggestions:
- There is always a sub with a US carrier. This also gives options..

Allow me to explain, when the fighters with A2G loadouts are ready, it will be exactly the time that Iranian launch their ASBM attack and you can immediately launch your large scale counterattack. And in real battle, anything could happen including your rival makes a surprise attack before you are ready.- A lot of aircraft of the US Air Force but also on the Carrier are not ready. I find it hard to believe that you sail into such an area coming from the US and not have your F-18's ready. This prevented a lot of aircraft flying into action. So I swithed to edit mode and got some A-10's extra (yes I cheated and also changed the loadouts on the F-18's and F-15E's).
With the A-10 joining the game, it will bring more possibilities to the palyer and thus I won't call your changes "cheat". It is me who had too much faith in SDBs.
Could you please give me some deployment information if you don't mind? Thank you so much!-I also saw A-10's deployed in this region on internet, who have lots of options for Iranian small boats, which was nice to try out.
- And tankers are always somewhere there.
I will. But at the same time, I will also try not making it another "Iran Srike 2023" scenario. If I can't limit the scale, then let it go.- Please look in the database and see how many UAS Iran has. You can probably use them more. or the Su-24's.
My pleasure. Looking forward to further suggestions. But I enjoyed it, thank you for sharing!
Re: Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.1 test)
Hi! Thanks for the current scenario. Could not finish it before the losses were too high, but will start again
Some comments from the first incomplete try:
I think the mission is not clear enough, wait for them to attack and the survive shooting down everything you can?
According to IntelSchizo map, ITS Virginio Fasan (F591) is part of the Eisenhower CSG.

So much stuff in the airports slows down my computer (it is very old), but all of it is needed? I mean 141 shelters,...
The Iran side attacked a civilian ship and depleted my missiles trying to shoot them down, specially from the Mason, are both intended?
To add some irony, in the photo of the ship, it is painted with the colours of the Russian flag
The A10, but it is not known where they are.

Re: Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.1 test)
Thank you for your playing. By and large, this scenario is a skirmish or you could consider it as a prelude to a massive operation.I think the mission is not clear enough, wait for them to attack and the survive shooting down everything you can?
I did neglect it since I haven't seen any satellite image proving that she is now in Gulf of Oman. As far as I know, The composition of battle group is constantly changing.According to IntelSchizo map, ITS Virginio Fasan (F591) is part of the Eisenhower CSG.
Again, It's all down to the game's poor optimization. However, I have an I9-13900H CPU so it's not a big deal to me. Of course I will replace them with single-unit airfield. So much stuff in the airports slows down my computer (it is very old), but all of it is needed? I mean 141 shelters,...
Maybe I should set Iranian omniscient to the civilian ships. As for sinking IRIN and IRGCN assets, JAGM on the MH-60s will be suitable IMO.The Iran side attacked a civilian ship and depleted my missiles trying to shoot them down, specially from the Mason, are both intended?
Thanks a lot!The A10, but it is not known where they are.

My computer is not representative of what people here use, so do not change anything if you have no problem with it.
Regarding the Iranians attack on civilians, I thought it was a tricky way to deplete my defenses
Was it truncated? This is the link, copy and paste should work.
A submarine, if you want to add it, supposedly it was the Florida the one that crossed Suez after the CSG.

Re: Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.2 test)
V1.2 has now available. Several changes have been made.
Re: Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.2 test)
I find out why it happened. That's because the tankers are in the way of Iranian SSMs. When the missile activate its sensor, it targets on the tankers and hit them. Multiple misfire incidents caused by Iranian poor guidance tech. The Iran side attacked a civilian ship and depleted my missiles trying to shoot them down, specially from the Mason, are both intended?
Re: Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.2 test)
Thanks for the update and the explanation.
Effectively, the Italian ship is still in the Mediterranean Sea with the NATO group.

Re: Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.2 test)
Noticed one odd action w/ regard to the Iranian ASBM. I suspect it is a database issue. The Zolfagher missiles at some point descend to an altitude of zero ASL. Makes an intercept rather difficult at 4000 kts.
I suspect the target point is reached by the unit on the designed ballistic flight path and then it just keeps going. If the aim point is short of the actual desired target the missile continues on and cannot be intercepted by any defense weapon, eventually hitting something. The missile is thus not following a ballistic flight path.
I saved a game and loaded it with the editor and looked at it from Iran side, clear that is what is happening.

Re: Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.2 test)
I like the concept, but keep having issues with the Ike CSG defending itself. Looked at the units and saw many of the weapons were already allocated.
Not sure what is causing this or if this impacting the self defense of the fleet.

That doesn't make any sense. Must be a bug.twwaxminer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 5:11 pm I like the concept, but keep having issues with the Ike CSG defending itself. Looked at the units and saw many of the weapons were already allocated.

Re: Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.2 test)
The weapon allocation issue is a bug that was thankfully fixed in 1328.12.
A fun scenario. Iranian and Chinese ASBMs deciding to target civilian ships instead of my CSG did break the immersion, though there is little a scenario designer can do about that—this targeting issue seems to be a rather unfortunate limitation in the sim right now.

Re: Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.2 test)
Accidentally discovered that the time point of the Iranian ballistic missile launch in the game seemed to be incorrectly set in advance (possibly a bug), this is the fix version. In addition to this, I further increased the amount of SM-3 in CSG

Re: Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.2 test)
As far as I know, the Chinese ASBM has some sort of graphic imaging capability, meaning it can identify a carrier and target it for a lock-in strike (as the carrier-shaped target in the desert of northwest China suggests). Unfortunately, this kind of functionality is difficult for game developers to implement.caelunshun wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 5:05 am The weapon allocation issue is a bug that was thankfully fixed in 1328.12.

Re: Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.2 test)
Usually from a scenario desginer POV you set Civilian side friendly to enemy AI side in order to avoid the AI side firing to civilian units.
Re: Gulf of Oman 2023 (v1.2 test)
Set civilian friendly to iran and sino-pak to avoid missfire.
