Canton Port Issue

Post by Dgold »

Canton is a level 5 major port, but is not accessible from the ocean.

Therefore it is not possible to put it out of supply via naval interdiction, as fleets can only be adjacent to Hong Kong, not Canton. I ran several turns in a row, but the Japanese units are never reduced due to supply interdiction. See my screenshot.

Perhaps Canton should be made accessible to naval units from the ocean, or have its port status removed, or consider it to be interdicted, for supply purposes, if Hong Kong is so interdicted?

Canton was a major port and smaller classes of ships could use it. The problem is that larger ships could not use the port. Not sure how the game could reflect that.

So what game has now is likely the best way to handle it. Just not allow any ships to use the port.

If Canton was not marked as being a port on the map, we would be having a different thread asking 'Why is Canton not shown as a port?" lol

Add to that...Hong Kong is a 10 PP locations...

I believe that makes it a supply source so you can not blockade the port.

HK is a 9 Port Supply city with 180 supply, not a Main Supply city as are Japanese Home cities.

Alvaro - can Hong Kong be successfully interdicted for supply purposes, by enemy naval ships?

Also, please fix Canton, as it cannot be interdicted by enemy naval ships, by removing its status as a supply port.

Thanks

I swore I fixed that earlier. Maybe I didn't save it. Well it is fixed now. And yes it is not a main supply source for Japan. Yes it can be blocked.

There is also an issue for the Japanese Player. It's sometimes not possible to use the port and disembark units there.
