Regarding production

WarPlan Pacific is an operational level wargame which covers all the nations at war in the Pacific theatre from December 1941 to 1945 on a massive game scale.

Regarding production

Post by ncc1701e »

Something I was thinking of.

In term of ship production, the more ships you are building in a class, normally it allows to gain time on the production of the latest ships.

For example, if I am buying 10 cruisers, same class, the first ones will be long to build but normally the latest ones should take less time. No?

Perhaps Warplan 2 should have this notion of production line.

What do you think of this?
Chancellor Gorkon to Captain James T. Kirk:
You don't trust me, do you? I don't blame you. If there is to be a brave new world, our generation is going to have the hardest time living in it.

Remember to take into effect the ship year. A 1939 DD is NOT a 1940 DD, which should be a new class.

Yea. I have been doing a little research on all this when I am relaxing. It is a lot to research with so many variations.

The problem is most of the time countries built a few ships of one type and then "designed" another.

The US had 8 battleship classes in WW2.
Yes many were out of date...basically all were since battleships should have stopped being built but that is just battleships.

The US had 10 different destroyer classes from 1932 until well after the war. Yes the majority of ships that were built were the last 2 classes but that is quite a bit to make a distinction around.

I guess you could say if you stick with a particular class you get better at building it...but you would have to limit upgradability...

Basically a Lexington Class CV should not be able to be converted into an Essex.

You almost have to have your research creating new classes but offering minor upgrades to the old versions.
