WarPlan Pacific - Japanese Campaign - Video

Post by *Lava* »

So I have decided to play the Japanese.

My intent is to publish a 2 part video series. The first part will cover my opening move on December 7th, 1941 and the second part will show the progression of the war every 3 months until the end. The game is still in progress and will take some time to finish.

However, I have published the first part of the series - Opening Move.

You can find the video here:

WarPlan Pacific - Japanese Campaign Opening Move

This is the opening move of my Japanese Campaign. It is part 1 of 2 parts. In the second video I will cover the rest of the war in 3 month intervals until the end of the war.

Please don't hesitate to comment as the opening move is very important to the campaign.

Thanks for the video, few comments:
1. You did not take the port of Aparri on turn one so your blockade of Philippines does not work imo.
2. Be sure to blockade the unit in Davao, otherwise it will escape.
3. You should disembark elsewhere for taking the two oil fields near Kuala Belait on turn one.
4. I prefer to destroy the unit in Canton Island on turn one instead of going to Tarawa.

You don't trust me, do you? I don't blame you. If there is to be a brave new world, our generation is going to have the hardest time living in it.

All good ideas worth following, thanks!

My first whack at it, so I don't actually know how this will all turn out. I have a strategic plan, we'll see how it works out.

Also, as Japanese, I don't consider upgrading ports. Maybe I am wrong but I am under the impression that I am helping the Allies to advance faster later in 1943/1944.

I can see that. I have a reason for doing so.

You will see in the next video, which will be for the year 1942. I have decided to do a video per year of the war instead of one video for the rest of the campaign, so I can be a bit more descriptive of how I am fighting the war.

As my first Japanese campaign, though, I will probably get stomped, but hey, what's the fun in always winning?

;)

A magnific demonstration that there is no oil problem for Japan taking Borneo only.

WarPlan Pacific - Japanese Campaign - Part 3 - 1943 to 44 (end of campaign)

In this video I go through 1943 and 44 as the Japanese. Plenty of fleet action, however, unfortunately, The AI was really not up to the task, and I end the campaign here. It became obvious to me that one really needs to up the difficulty level in favor of the Allies in order to get more of a challenge. By doing so, believe, you can have an excellent experience.

Overall, the heart of this game is playing the Allies as with almost all wargames, the AI shines when it is on defense. Between the Allied campaign and PBEM, this is worth a try for anyone who likes turn based wargames.

Looks like your videos jump from turn 1 to March - what did you do in between?
