rookie question...following roads...

Post by Hoyt Burrass »

Is there an easy way to get a unit to follow roads?...a road march formation??

and then to deploy once they reach FEBA...I find most of my games devolving into a click fest as I contact the enemy forces

and what is the deal with facing? MBTs rotate to face closer low threat units (recce elements with no ATGM capability) and expose their flanks to credible threats (enemy MBTs) at greater distances...

Thanks in advance,

Hi there, if you are finding the game becoming a clickfest just tap the space button and issue orders, also you can set the game to pause automatically when a various events happen in the options menu...

And yes March type movement makes the units use roads 😎

Normally, setting the path finding SOP to 'quickest' will have units staying on the roads, since the roads are usually the quickest way. Sometimes when attacking or moving in a formation like wedge, or when telling a unit to reverse back in a straight line, then 'shortest' path is best.

Thanks...I had totally missed the March formation...now a follow-up

is it possible to associate a formation change with a waypoint...and if so, how do you do it?

Thanks again,

Currently we cannot associate an SOP with a specific waypoint.

I like the command delays associated with orders. They force the player to plan ahead and not be god-like. But limitations like this really defeat the purpose of the command system. If you want to force players to suffer through command delays, give them the tools they need to plan out their operations.

Its the little things like this that really hold the game back from being a solid tactical game like Steel Panthers.

Movement SOP and formations are not affected by command delays: once a pathfinding SOP is changed, then the very next calculation is done with the new one. Formation changes are instant.

Forget my righteous indignation then.
