strategies and tactics for starting battle

a artillery piece needs moving, either choice is a valid move, yellow is following history, while red is just another option.

brigade orders for this unit doesn't need changing as it's already in column with movement by column orders set already for you

now we have a infantry unit with skirmishes out which will slow it's movement down somewhat but it's fine so i don't alter it and move it to replace the unit shown, it can't make the distance in one move so will do it over a few turns.

now this unit is in line with skirmishes out, while we could move it how it is, it will take longer so change it's formation to column and then it moves to it's next position in one move. next turn we can alter it back to the correct formation

now our Brigade commander, before we do our last 3 infantry units, we first go to our commander then alter his orders to his men, atm you can see his orders to his brigade are for advance, now we change that to assault.

as soon as the brigade orders have changed to assault, change the formations to skirmishes out for the last 3 units and end turn as for now we are almost done and in position

no matter if you attack in your red line formation, or defend, you are in good ground, the correct formation if you have changed back those who needed to be changed back into line that is from column and have learnt the basics to fight and move and alter orders at brigade level, if we stick together and fight close with support and in command radius / in brigade command, we all fight better and it should go well for you, good luck commander[;)]

PS, there is no wrong or correct way to play any of these battles,it's your call, if you win you have done well, if you lose then at least you have tried, so maybe next time you will do it differently and better

Thanks for the tips.

Love this game. A little overwhelmed with all of the attacks and counter-attacks in a 20 minute time span. And I am a little confused as it seems like one unit gets to return fire to any unit(s) that attacked it. But in my own personal experience if "A" is fired upon by "B" and "C", it may indeed return fire (counter-attack) both units, but not at full strength to each attacker. Or did I miss something?[&:]
A plan is only good until I wake up in the morning.
