I have the same problem downloading from my 100 mbit connection from Amsterdam. I can't get more then 50 kb/s for the 2.0 version and it's interrupted frequently.

After a few days of playing this new 2.0 version I'm pretty UPSET with the results...

I have always played with the 3D units...BUT... Now the new 2D units with the great looking Unit Graphics on them are causing me to have to play one turn with the 3D and then play the next turn with the new 2D units...

I suppose I'll get over it someday...

Many thanks for keep updating this classic. [&o] IMO CS uses the more realistic turn-based system you can find out there (with Silent Storm permission [:D]).

I'm really kind of shocked you guys got rid of the whole music and real full screen game menu to replace it with a infobox, it's a shame. It's just puzzling really how anyone would think that's a improvement. I guess I'll install the old version, look at it, and then use the 2.0 infobox to start a game. I'm I missing something? Can I still change the settings to have a actual full game menu with music? No offense, but it's kinda silly to downgrade like that. I guess the new CS game will suffer the same thing instead a menu and music like the original EF, etc.

I failed to install two CS:ME's at the same time because one destroys the other even the old one takes out the new one. CAn anyone give any tips how I can browse the old menu 1.2 and still have 2.0 stocked on my PC?

Install both of them on your 2nd available partition, not under C:\Program Files (x86). E.g. The old CS ME under let's say d:\CSME and the new one under D:\Campaign Series Middle East. There won't be any conflicts.

That way you can swap, to your hearts content, the sound files etc.

Again, since Windows 7, installing especially games under C:\Program Files (x86) is (IMHO) not a good idea.

Also, try installing 2.0 first, then install 1.02, as I believe 2.0 installer looks for a previous one and wants it gone.

My +1 for against installing in the Programme Files (x86) folder.

Maybe the second time I got a corrupted download via Matrix in 15 years. It was Avast. Turn it off as it is getting more aggressive, as it needs to be.

Beyond that, how many devs will install JSGME and many of the mods for you in the initial install? Great game, great support, and I've even gone back to JTCS for old time's sake. The $20 sale was like giving it away, imo. I paid full price at release, and still a bargain.

I have installed CSME 2.0 and played a couple of tutorials to spot the differences between the new and old version.

The pro's are realy upsetting the balance in favour of the 2.0, expecially the recon rule and I am sure I will notice many other improvements.

On the con's side I only regret the pop-up showing the units values when you did pass the cursor over it in the old version, I have read that it's an unavoidable loss but maybe a simpler pop-up with no-graphic informations?

Thanks to all the developers, great job, looking forward for the new games and DLC's.

I have installed and uninstalled Middle East 2.0 five times and the result is always the same, a game that operates real slow and you can not even play the big scenarios because they will not load. I have since found out that this new version requires more computer power then most computers, even those with Windows 10, can give. You need a super computer to play this game. Oh sure, you can play a small scenario on it with no problem, but call up a medium or large scenario and the program fails. I called up a large scenario on the game, waited 15 minutes, and cancelled the request because the game could not load it. Congratulation Matrix, you have designed a game for the next generation of computers but its not doing us any good with the present generation or previous generations of computers. Loading up a game with a bunch or bells and whistles doesn't do you any good if you can not play it. Jumping from version 1.02 to 2.0 was too big a jump. You should have taken more steps like 1.03 and 1.04 before going to 2.0. Well its too late now. I have deemed version 2.0 a failure. Yes, a failure. A failure because you need an advanced computer to play it. I am going back to version 1.02 because I know that it will work because I have played it many times. This also calls into question future products such as East Front III and the Viet Nam game. If these games are gong to be on the same level as version 2.0 then Matrix will doing nothing but selling us a bill of goods.

I have a six year old standard store bought computer with W7 and this game works perfectly for me. I think you are barking up the wrong tree.

I tested and played CSME 2.00 on a ~13-year-old Windows XP system here without issue. It ran fast enough, no problem. No problem either on the two ~11-year-old Win7 & Win8.1 test systems here. [8|]

Have you tried this? Or even this?

1) You tried/still trying to download the core version via the Matrix Games member website, correct?
2) You had your original CSME registered via Matrix Games, right?
3) The download did start at all?
4) In case you still can't download it, when you contact MG support, they will offer you an alternative download link.
