Scenario Briefing not working?

Regardless of the scenario opened, whenever I try to pull up a Scenario Briefing nothing appears. Is this working as designed? The manual indicates it should appear when the scenario starts and again when selected from the menu.

This is true for those scenarios with available CS Event Engine Lua files, such as the Sirte scenarios. Most of the Middle East scenarios are to have their CSEE files added in the next 1.40 UPDATE late this year, we hope.

Certainly, mllange. It is true the manual is a bit misleading for now. Hopefully not so after next update! Tons of scenario Lua writing ahead

from what I see this has not been fixed yet? Is there any way to access briefings for scenarios that are missing? Which scenarios are affected now?

edit: maybe you can link an older version of the game that had this briefings working, perhaps?

It’s not that they’re missing from the Middle East game — most of them simply weren’t there to begin with.

Scenario Briefings are created using scenario-specific CS Event Engine (Lua) files. In Middle East, they exist in the Sirte scenarios and, in a slightly different format, in the Teaching sets.

Vietnam, on the other hand, has always had them because we manually programmed each scenario with a Lua file.

For the 2.40 UPDATE (due in January, hopefully), all Middle East scenarios will include their own scenario Lua files, complete with Briefings.

You can already review the Briefings later from the game’s Status menu. If they exist in a scenario, that is.

Also, starting with ME 2.40 UPDATE (and VN 1.40 UPDATE), you’ll also be able to copy Scenario Briefing content to the clipboard. This means you can paste it into Word, Notepad, or any text editor to keep it open as a reference while playing.

Hi, it sure did. I just assumed that they are already written somewhere and weren't *ported* to the engine.
So for example in scenario Long Road Home I just have to go for victory location capture and enemy kills to win scenario over, correct?

Yes, you would need to win it in a "classic" manner by gaining Victory points from enemy units (and avoiding harming civilians!) and capturing objectives, and being able to exit enough units from Exit objective iirc. Or, in other words, no, there aren't any Event points in Long Road Home as there is no accompanying Lua file.

IIRC, "Long road home" has an exit hex. Keeping your units alive and exiting them from the map
should give you a victory.
