Update error

Hi folks, I've not played the game for years but just thought to take a look and I get an update error. Just thought you might like to know. I might get back into the game one day.

If you haven't played for a couple of years, what is your current version, by the way?

June 2023 2.30 UPDATE is a complete remaster that requires uninstalling the 2.0 version first. Once you have 2.30 in place, you can then update to 2.31.

If you are already with 2.30, then, as Jason mentioned in his post, there is a direct download link available as wel.

Still no luck. I reinstalled to 2.30. Then tried to update from direct download but it just flashed up and didn't install. I tried to update from menu but got the same error as previously shown. I'm not going to mess about much more as I don't want to play the game at the moment but if there is a problem I can help with I'll try for a bit longer. Maybe I am just an idiot and I am doing something wrong - but there may be other idiots out there.

No, it’s not you, it should just work. Going back to very basics, have you tried rebooting your computer and then trying the update installer again?

Just tried that. Same errors. Nobody else reporting any errors?
I'm still on 2.30 which works fine.

Then it must be something about the installer. If you would ask Matrix Tech Support for assistance, and should they be able to help you, then posting the resolution here, that would be very helpful.

Thanks for bringing this up. We're investigating the issue.

Issue should now be resolved - you should be able to download and install the update through the launcher.

Otherwise, you can also download the installer from the File Downloads tab in your My Page section here: https://www.matrixgames.com/member/down ... -1948-1985.

I used your link which installed to 2.30. I tried a check for updates which seemed to work this time but if I go into the game and press help it still says 2.30. If I try check for updates again I'm still told there is a newer version available. Maybe the help text needs updating and I am running 2.31? I tried the direct link again but it still just flashed up quickly and appeared to do nothing.

Have you gone through the full installation process after you clicked Check for Updates? What needs to happen is that your system checks our server and sees if there's a newer version available. If so, then on your end you would need to continue until the update gets downloaded and then installed. Feel free to post screenshots of what you're seeing and we can help walk you through the process.

In regard to clicking the direct download link Jason posted - not sure what's going here. What browser are you running? Have you checked if your anti-virus might be interfering with the download?
