With the new scripting, we can make scenarios like that much more of a challenge!

As noted before, we'll be updating all the core Middle East scenarios with the new LUA scripting after Vietnam is released.

bootlegger267,

Awesome AAR work!![&o][&o]

Its very evident a lot of hard detailed work on your part went into supplying this AAR!

I anxiously awaited every new post by you in this one and the fact that you did it as a narrative was just superb!

I too had the same thoughts on seeing the final dispositions. Still a very formidable Egyptian force out there in the field.

Well done!!![:)]

Thanks! A very long scenario where i was lucky to get two turns done at a shot. The AI played one hell of a game. Tough little 0's and 1's!

Great AAR, great read, thanks for posting. Man, I wonder how you guys play those large scenarios. That's a lot of units to keep track of, wow.

Hello all,
I know I am quite late to post a message in this topic but I just bought the game...

3 things confuse me :

1- The most important one is that The Akavish and Tirtur roads where closed for at least 24 hours.
The force first assembled at about 1 or 2 km south of Akavish on Caspi road then crossed to Lexicon south of the Akavish/Lexicon junction and then turned north.

Captain Gross, coming on Lexicon from the south, turned right, with the A company 407th battalion, on Akavish and found it free but this was only for a short while.
So this scenario has a wrong start...

2- There was no railroad on the east bank as depicted. I was disassembled an its rails used to reinforce the roof of the Bar-Lev line forts.
Check out the Sirius map.

3- Trivial but confusing to me : why the map is not oriented North/South ? Or is there an option in the game ?

My 2 bits...

That is not one of the original scenarios, that is a scenario that was added after as a recreation of the Divided Ground scenario.

That being said, the mapping for that isn't quite accurate for that scenario and north is not at the top, as you will find in all of the CSME historical scenarios.

This scenario set by Alan Arvold is based on Suez´73 boardgame, with emphasis on providing a more accurate OOB compared to what was in the game. Each scenario then recreates a scenario from that boardgame.

I recall there was a Suez'73 related scenario in Divided Ground game, hence the inclusion in Ode to Divided Ground scenario set. In hindsight, these could have been a separate Ode To Suez´73 package, too.

Indeed, here are Alan's design notes on this scenario. Note the comments on original Divided Ground add-on scenarios, too.

I will bump the three threads at Mods and Scenarios subforum with more information on this community content by Alan.

Edit oops, typo on the link, fixed. A rather long post, do scroll towards the end of it for this particular scenario.

Hello,
I checked Alan's note and it says :
DESIGN NOTES FOR THE CANAL-CROSSING SCENARIOS
By Alan R. Arvold

Mapboard
The same mapboard is used in both scenarios and is historically based on the area where the Hizayon Outpost is located. However, it is an approximation of the area, especially when compared to the mapboards used in the Yaguri and Ismailia scenarios. And the mapsheets were rather bland looking, I added the railroads and towns based on what I saw on the Ismailia map.
Again, the railroads were dismantled on the east bank during the construction of the Bar-Lev line. It was originally a side line of the Orient-Express from Haifa to Cairo via El-Arish and Kantara.

Consider this a first hand testimony. I tried to add an excerpt of the Sirius map but with no success...

Now, is there a scenario closer to history as it was depicted in the Amiram Ezov book ?

Hello BravoGolf, and welcome to the forums! Forgot to say that [:)]

Here's a few Sinai related scenarios available in the game:

[*] Assaulting Budapest
[*] Thorn of Budapest
[*] Off to Giddi
[*] Formalities in Suez
[*] Into the Hornets Nest
[*] Shuneri at Crossroads
[*] Into Africa!
[*] Into the Jaws of Shlomo
[*] From Russia with Love
[*] Humbling of the tank
[*] Act Two at Hyazon
[*] Nir's Dilemma

Few more:

[*] A taste of Sa'iqa
[*] SAM Hunting

Into the Hornet's nest and Shuneri at Crossroads depict the battle for Chinese Farm per se, then there's a few actions before and after that.

I suggest you scroll the Scenario Selection dialog with Sort By Date, to ensure I did not miss anything, also for seeing them in chronological order. This list is based on a quick look of the Scenario listing as available in game manual. I am at office, sorry (hush...).

Also for any scenario by Alan Arvold: they all are created based on some boardgame or another, a true gift for any boardgamegeeks out here. These scenarios have not been through a formal play testing though, so for play balance per victory conditions, those are depicted based on each boardgame scenario rules, and may or may not work well in CS Middle East. All are great fun though!

Edit: added a few more scenarios!

PS Loved Azov's book, a definitive book for sure. Especially liked how he described "friction", and how it played havoc for both sides.

Hello Crossroads !

Thanks for the greetings and for the infos.

I have yet to discover the game. I was used to play against myself with paper maps , counters and dices in the old days (I was a Strategy & Tactics subscriber then).
I have to learn new tricks now.
As for the scenarios, it is more a reenactment of memory than actually a game of strategy.
