Your favorite War Theater in CC.
I have to say my fav, would be CC 3: The Russian Front, aka Iron Cross. Gotta love the Blitzkrieg.

I have to agree with ringoblood. The Russian Front was a step in the right direction for the CC series. As noted elsewhere, I would like to see some North African and perhaps Pacific campaigns.

Depends a lot of map style+units you can use and theaters could offer good operations-battles and other more
I search something more in the line of CC2 where infantry was the core and vehicles appear in limited numbers and every one counts, even i dont see bad a title where we dont have vehicles at all, the point is how improvements help here to made units combat at close combat.
My favourite CC titles are Okinawa, Stalingrad, Ebro... if BF is good we are going to visite sure East front but what we can visite apart this and the west 44 battles??? who knows.

That's an interesting point Hexagon. So often, the off shoots (Winter War, Gold Sword Juno, Stalingrad, etc.) of the CC title were more interesting than the original title itself. Just wondering if that capability (making your own maps, etc.) will stay intact with TBF.

Eastern front all the way!
The really massive & brutal events of the European part of WWII happened there.
In all honesty, im dissapointed to see that the new game will not be set in the eastern front [:(]

I would agree, however I would add the Pacific events were even more brutal, and sadly in the WW2 gaming world the Pacific front has been untouched, CC game in the Pacific would be a very nice addition i would like to see.ORIGINAL: Benzin1973

For me east front is not specially better than other areas for CC game style... i refer that if you want catch the massive part you need play over squad/individual vehicles level (i think in Tiller titles for company/battalion level or if you want play at regimental/divisional level the "Decisive campaigns series") and brutal events... we talk about close combat vicious fights, here maybe the island battles in the Pacific are more concentrate in space-time and give more of this for a CC game.
I prefer more titles with complex maps where you need fight 2 or more battles to have a victory over them with less armor presence, playing the support role to give infantry room to do the job... here Ebro mod offer good maps and BGs where you cant use magic armor to win, its a pure infantry VS terrain VS enemy situation and i think is possible have this in BF without focus in one specific theater.
I expect the game improvements in content arrive using DLC system for example selling "battles" or "operations" expanding the number of "companies" you can use in game to create your own battles-operations-campaigns... and even with this is possible release based in a tematic and not in a theater, for example release a "Not overexploited Airborne" DLC with Reds in east+Japan skySamurais+Rhine assault... instead have a linked set of operations to do a campaign like in BF you have 3 operations you can play from both sides not linked to complete a campaign.
I think the point in BF need be in offer a good variety of units to use and maps to fight and i really prefer see in future less "one unit focus" because in the end the good point in old CCs was in the variety of units you need use to win.
But lets see first how good is game now in the infantry area, i am curious about defensive works because i expect with new engine infantry can use them a lot better and well, they could be assaulted better if you catch rear.

My favorite was definitely Cross of Iron, the Russian front Game.
The campaign was fun from both sides.

My first game in the series was Close Combat 3. It has to be both my favourite game and theatre. - The outcome of WWII was decided on the eastern front and this theatre offers great variation in everything from terrain and weather to force compositions and equipment range. The desperation and tenacity of fighting presented on this theatre lacks comparison with anything but the Pacific campaign.

i play it over the years, but i played it in depth with a friend for a few months last year, i dont have a fav thearter but i did like the RU vs GER campaign in maybe panthers in the fog, historically where the germans had to push the russian lines before the winter hit, and it pretty much played out how history did (our campaiggn) according to my mate, so much fun this series!

"Units, especially infantry, are also very hard to spot on higher zoom levels, forcing you to rely on the unit counters instead which could also stand out a bit better."
LOL has this guy even played CC? having issue clicking on the units hmmmmmmm... maybe click the unit icon on your left you muppet hahahaha.

The Bloody First fought in North Africa and Sicily,so the franchise is now going somewhere it hasn't been before. If followed, this CC game should see battle in North Africa, Sicily, Normandy and the final push into Germany.

Gotta say Normandy will always be my favorite because it was my first RTT game - and the one I always go back to. [&o]

RE: Your favorite War Theater in CC.
to those that know me .. im a huge CC III w/western front fan.. CC3 was the very first PC game and was purchased 20 years ago.I rembember playing WF as early as version 6 i believe. im also a pretty big pacmod fan which imo, is the most polished and least played of all cc3 mods.
CC III req system will always be a superior system over the CC V forcepool/battlegroup system for online single battles/ops IMHO
