Each time I use the screen order in editor to enter a text, I receive error message in game
IMAGE:
And if I click on "ok", the game crashed immediatly (return to windows)
It occurs in the Matrix version and in the GOG version (i have bought the two versions because I love a lot this game and I wanted to have all versions)
It has no relation with the used maps because the crash occurs even I use vanilla maps of CCMT
Same for scenarios : the bug occurs also for vanilla original scenarios that are provided in game, when I try to change the text of "orders"
Please, is there a way to solve this problem ?
My OS is Windows 7 pro
SCREEN OF MY VERSION OF THE GAME (the last updated, I think)
Hi welk -- I can't see any of the images you posted so I'm not sure what version you're using nor exactly where the error is happening. The latest is version should say 2021.4.20.1.
Since you mention 'changing the orders' I assume you are in the scenario editor and you clicked 'Edit Op Orders' and the crash happens when you click 'Ok' to save it? I'm not able to reproduce this myself. If this is what is happening, then it sounds like something is preventing the game from saving the op orders file to disk.
It should be trying to save to your Windows Documents folder under \My Games\CloseCombatModernTactics\Games\Battles\OpOrders\Army\. I have heard of issues with Windows Security 'ransomeware protection' preventing saves / writes to the user's Documents folder, but I think that's only in Windows 10+. Might be worth a check on Windows 7. You might also try temporarily disabling any anti-virus or other disk management/security software to see if that makes a difference.
And yes, my version is the latest version 2021.4.20.1.
The problem occurs when I am in the scenario editor and I click on the button 'Edit Op Orders' : when I enter a text and click 'ok", I receive the error message and if I click again ok, the games crashes (return windows)
I will try what you say and say to you the result
EDIT : Could you give to me the name of the file that should be wrtittent by the program in the concerned directory : perhaps, I could write it myself and create it manually (if it is a txt file)

1/ Microsoft Security Essential : unactivated it, and result is same
2/Anti-virus (mine is Norton): unactivated it, and result is same
I have searched in all forum (Matrix, CC series, Slitherine) and not seen any post about this kind of problem, so I think it comes in particular from something in my OS Windows 7 pro configuration
The problem is not really serious, it's just a detail and does not affect the interest of game itself ; I did just want to know if any easy solution was awailable.
EDIT: Could you give to me the name of the file that should be written in concerned directory : perhaps, I could write it
myself and create it manually in the directory (if txt file)
Precision : At this time, my directory named Games\CloseCombatModernTactics\Games\Battles\OpOrders\Army\ is 100% empty : no any file in.
I get the same bug with the 2021.4.20.1 .exe, but with the 2020.6.25.1 .exe it works with no other changes in anti virus or whatever.
I added an example of the OPorder file. The naming convention is "missionname OPorder.txt"
I tried also with the same old version as you (2020.6.25.1) to see what it happens in my Wibndows 7 pro OS, and I noticed that all works perfect : no any bug or problem with screen order (and my antivirus + Microsoft security are setted "on")
Finally, the pb seems coming from the latest recent version of CCMT, and not from OS
Perhaps could we do that to solve provisary the problem (please, Steve, say us if this way is correct):
1- To buil the scenario with the 2021 version
2- After that, to open again the concerned scenario with the 2020 version exe and use screen order to register "orders"
3- After that, to lunch the scenario with the 2021 version exe to play it
EDIT I did the test and it works perfect
Here is the complete process I followed with information given by SchnelleMeyer :
1- I created a new scenario with CCMT 2021 version (most recent version), without use screen order
2- After that, I did copy the scenario file in the directory where I installed the old 2020 version
3- I opened the scenario in this old 2020 version, and I used Screen ordre to create/write "orders", then I registered the scenario in the old 2020 version.
4- Then I did copy the scenario file in 2021 version of CCMT
5- Then, I did open the scenario in the 2021 version CCMT, and I registered the scenario again.
After that, I opened again the scenario in same 2021 version and I was able to use screen order to modify orders for this scenario without any pb or bug
EDIT: However, it works just one unic time, just after registered the scenario. If you quit the 2021 version, and then lunch again this 2021 version to modify screen orders, the bug occurs again : to erase it, you have to re-do a second time the entire process I described.
The good solution seems to be that : after creating the screen order with the 2020 version, it's better to register the scenario in the 2021 version without any change in screen order. In other words, we have to use only the 2020 version to create and to modify the screen order.
And each time we modify the screen order of the scenario with 2020 old version, seems carefull to re-open the scenario with 2021 version and to register it again with this 2021 version (but without change anything in screen orders)
Thanks for the information guys. The folders used by the 2021 version was changed significantly (writes to the user's documents folder instead of the game install folder as the earlier versions did) so I'll take a look at that when able.
Thanks a lot, great news CCMT with his perfect editor + modding tools (RTB, CC2 Spiter) + databook (I have improved mine to be more esay to use, with different colors for parameters slots) is in my opinion the best complete opus in terms of play interest : games vs AI may be very challenging and difficult, more than in any other opus CC (WW2)
I plane to introduce in the OPFOR oob and BLUE ARMY oob's reco drones and attack drones.
And I have a little bit reduced the BLUE ARMY units morale and experience to equilibrate games vs AI : it works perfect.
