Close Combat - Cross of Iron is based on Atomic Games award Winning Close Combat Series. Close Combat is a real time game were you take command of German or Soviet squads on the Eastern Front during World War II. This version is being developed by CSO Simtek and will include many new features and improvements.

The other thing I don't like about Close Combat is you can't save during a battle. A second design flaw imo.

There's nothing wrong with having an option to pause and give orders for single player. If some people don't want to use it then fine. But everybody plays differently and no one should tell others what's best for them.

But my mouth IS dry and my heart does start thumping, even more than necessary...

That's the problem with a game that's been around for so long. Half of the original players are on medication or connected to life support machines!

[:D]

What a way to go though, eh?!

One of the strong points in the CC series is that you don't have complete control of what is happening in the game. You play the role of the officer or NCO giving orders in the middle of the chaos of battle. One major element of the game is how you as a commander, deal with the problems of war. A player's ability at coping with the ongoing battle in real time is what makes the game realistic and challenging. If the series had a pause and order feature, as has been suggested, it would act as an exploit that ruins the whole point of the game.

But what you and others don't understand is we are the customers. WE are the ones who decide what is good and what ruins the game for us. Some of us feel that the lack of pause/order and saving during battle is what ruins the game. So there is everything to gain and nothing to lose by adding these features as options in solo play. Even HarpoonCE added a pause/order feature recently and it added to the game imo. If people like you don't want to use them, fine, but I bought CoI and MT because of the game content and was incredibly disappointed not to find these features so I play them only occasionally. These features are standard on just about every real time realistic wargame ever made and I never thought they wouldn't be available on Close Combat. It's a real shame.

Thanks for the invite but I never play multi. I'm a casual gamer not hardcore and I play different games so never get really good at any.

I could understand the need for a pause and order feature if Close Combat put you in charge of a battalion or more.

What I could understand is giving the player a choice.

Why do we play computer games? I play to have fun. Without this feature the game isn't fun for me. Maybe it is for some of you but there should be a choice.
