Excel tool to mod fpools, bgroups, teams
I have created an Excel sheet to edit the fpool, bgroup and teams files. You can find it here. The Excel sheet contains macros.

Hi Triarius,
thanks for your tool! Sadly to say, my environment is telling: "VisualBasic Makros are not supported by MS-Excel 2008 Macintosh".
But thanks a lot! A big help for the PC-users.

Mafi,
I have copied the Excel 97 version onto my iMac, which is running a Dutch version of System 7 and a UK version of Excel 98. The Mac is quite happy to open the macros, but then there are plenty of problems in the spreadsheet and with the macros. Who said Excel sheets are compatible between Mac and PC ?.
Anyway, I am willing to see if I can develop a Mac version for Excel 98, but first I want to make sure I am solving the right problem. Have you tried with the Excel 2007 or with the Excel 97 version ?

Hi Triarius,
I have used Mac:Office 2008 on Intel MacBook. This Excel version is not accepting VisualBasic.
Thanks for the hints for older PPC versions!

I am working on a macro-free version of the spreadsheet. This should help people who have platform or security issues. It will involve some manual copying and pasting, though. Stay tuned...
RE: Excel tool to mod fpools, bgroups, teams
The folder now also contains a version without macros, for those of you who have platform or security issues. The Excel 97/2003 version of the new spreadsheet seems to work fine on my iMac. I also corrected a small bug in the teams editor: the option "Tank, gun or mortar crew" was not available.

Hi Triarius,
the file CCEditor v1 (No macros Excel 2003).xls is working on Mac:Office2008's Excel. Thanks a lot!

RE: Excel tool to mod fpools, bgroups, teams
Hi Triarius,
I'm trying to edit the team data and failing everytime I hit the "Read the force pool for this unit from original data" button the following error occurs:
I am using Microsoft Works 2000.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Take it easy

oh yeah I should probably say that I am fairly computer clueless especially in excel, sorry

Hi,
Please ignore my last post, I downloaded a trial copy of Excel 2007 and the spreedsheet works brilliantly.
Very impressed, Triarius you've created an excellent tool, thank you.

RE: Excel tool to mod fpools, bgroups, teams
I have added a slightly changed version of the Excel 2007 file with macro's (CCEditor V1a) to the folder.
If you edit a unit in BgroupsEditor, often you will also want to edit the teams of that unit. But in TeamsEditor, it can sometimes be difficult to find the exact team. In the drop-down menu in TeamsEditor (cell F3), I have now listed each team twice: once with their name (as before), and once with a description starting with their code.
If you want to be sure you are editing the right team, retrieve its code in BgroupsEditor in the cells below E14. Then go to TeamEditor, cell F3, and scroll down until you see the teams starting with their code. Select the right team, based on its code, and proceed.

Version 1b now available, at the usual place. This allows you to edit nation, name and icon of teams. As before, you can also edit the composition of infantry teams, but not of other teams.

Hi
I wonder if I can use your editor to change ammo loadouts in the mortar squads ?
TIA.

RE: Excel tool to mod fpools, bgroups, teams
well i think it is fairly easy to make in excel in weapons.txt
RE: Excel tool to mod fpools, bgroups, teams
One thing - after editing teams, I stronlgy suggest to check them in the workbook as I had some problems with ammo check. If you open the "official" TLD workbook excel, you will find some tables checking if some of the values are correct. Total ammo is not correct - at least in my case. Please, check it as I can be wrong, but I think I am not
RE: Excel tool to mod fpools, bgroups, teams
I'm afraid it is not possible to edit the weapons file with the spreadsheet...
RE: Excel tool to mod fpools, bgroups, teams
Bought TLD a few days ago, with the only purpose of starting my modding career! [8D]
This is an excellent tool, but I get the same error-message as Rift when I tries to use the macro versions on my Excel 2002, so I takes a lot of cut & pasting to work with it...
But just a question; -In the TeamsEditor you can chose "Role" for every soldier, what does the different roles mean? [&:]

Hi

You change the ammo load in the soldiers file, easiest way is to use the CC Longest Day Workbook v13. (I use both that and triarius workbook parallel when I'm working on the teams and FP's.)
But I've run in to two questions this first week, don't know if they belong here or somewhere else in the forum:
1) Sometimes the British Bren gunners are coded as 'Basic soldier', sometimes as 'Tank, gun or mortar crew'. Which one is correct?
2) I'm planing on creating forward observers, but the CC Longest Day Workbook v13 says "Weapon class index for soldier / vehicle data files. 200 max is arbitrary and can be increased. NOTE: Some weapon classes are hard coded! Off board artilleries, mortars and all grenades should never change indexed positions."
-Does this mean that I can't create different 'Arty Explosion' to represent different calibres? (My plan is to have two types: 150mm artillery and off-shore naval bombardment; -One or two salvoes of really big guns...)
Cheers
RE: Excel tool to mod fpools, bgroups, teams
I'm afraid you can not use the macros with Excel 2002, you need at least Excel 2003. For Mafi, I created a version which is "macro-free". I suggest you use this one (if you are not already doing so). You will still have to cut and paste a lot, but the spreadsheet should offer you some guidance.
I'm not really a specialist on how CC works, but I think the role of each soldier defines how he behaves, what influence he has on the morale of his troops, and maybe also what influence he has on other teams nearby.
By the way, I noticed there is a problem with one of these roles in the spreadsheet: "Tank, gun or mortar crew" is always split over two lines in the drop-down menu. This is due to Excel, and I have found no solution for it. You should simply type this one by hand.
