The development team behind the award-winning games Decisive Campaigns: From Warsaw To Paris and Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive year and theater of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue simulates the German drive to Stalingrad and into the Caucasus of the summer of 1942, as well as its May preludes (2nd Kharkov offensive, Operation Trappenjagd) and also the Soviet winter counter-offensive (Operation Uranus) that ended with the encirclement of 6th Army in Stalingrad and the destruction of the axis minor armies. With many improvements including the PBEM++ system, this is a release to watch for wargamers!

Wow, that is good stuff.

I am sure the unit in Bakalov will get annihilated next turn by the AI, but that seems to have been a necessary move.

I wonder why he advanced the 14th so deep. I think I see a railroad that makes that overextension have no effect. If this was vs a human, I imagine that entire 14th in that salient would be hammered or perhaps vaporized. I am curious to see what the AI does.

My plan is going a little awry it has to be said. I think I may have overstretched my push in the South too. I don't play the game regularly against human opponents, only a few AAR's I did under the Battle of the Blogs moniker. Even in such a short scenario, with limited ruleset, I hope I can demonstrate the excitement that can be eeked out of a play session, even with the AI. My enthusiastic human mistakes may be exploited by the new AI developed for Case Blue, I'll just have to see :)

Thanks Erik for correcting the link above, I must've have been overtired and emotional as I posted the links out for Turn 2.. now to knuckle down and get Turn 3 out.

Turn 3 on the day of release.. it takes me a while to get these together, I should have known I couldn't knock out all the turns necessary before the game was released... still, it does lay it out, moment by moment, turn by turn. So could be used as a primer for newbies. Maybe.

Thanks Spelk! FYI the v1.00b release version is now available to the press as well, so feel free to grab that and give it a try. We did improve the AI even more between 0.99 and 1.00.

Regards,

- Erik
