What is the best way to do a screen shot?

Hmmm...I don't think there is an internal capability in Desert War besides Prt Scr button. I've been using Hypersnap for years but surely something more modern has come along. I haven't looked since I got Hypersnap...Ctrl-Shift-F snaps the shot and I'm back in the game. It records shot after shot and you don't have to do anything with them until you are ready--they're all cataloged in Hypersnap. But...like I said--surely someone has topped it in all these years (10 maybe?).

I used the print screen method. The file is too large to upload as a screen shoot on the Matrix forum in JPG or GIF. Is there a way to do a make the file the size to upload? I don't know what the Matrix upload limit is, but my screen shot files are about 1MG plus.

Easiest multiple screen capture software is Hypersnap. I've been using v7 it since 2006 and v8 since 2017. Likes it alot...use it everyday. Downside? $39.95

Free stuff? Try Paint.net or GIMP. These are free photo-editing programs. Do your Print Screen then use either of the program to save the file as a .jpg file. You'll be presented with some resolution/compression options; 90% is usually the default. Try 60 or 70% compression for starters. Adjust downwards until your saved file is less than 200kb.

Or the basic Paint that comes in Windows...just copy in the image and resize (it's on the top left beside the Select - in the middle of Crop/Regsize/Rotate)

I took the plunge and bought Hypersnap. I really like this software for screenshots. Having fun learning how to use it. It would nice if Matrix allowed larger screen shot files to be uploaded. The limit seems to be 200k. Even 400k file limit would help.

From the HyperSnap toolbar, consider using the Image/Scale tool. For width, enter the values of 1024 pixels or 800. This will give you an image that fits nicely on the Matrix Forum. If you need "large" to see the detail you think is significant...then cut out the surrounding noise. Use the Image/Crop tool in HyperSnap to cut out what you need.

Bigger is always better on file limits...but until that time? Shrinking and cropping are your friends.

I see what you mean, I like the smaller images posted on other threads. I have started experimenting with the Image/Scale tool, and cropping. Very helpful. Resolution is important to me, so all images represent the actual resolution of the game. Its tricky to get just the right balance with the file size limits.
