Alert sound and alert levels need help badly.

Post by Janster »

The sound is terrible, truly terrible, I can't stand listening to it, and while that may give some sense of alarm, it just becomes tiresome, because it doesn't differentiate between if its just a space monster gobbling on an explorer, or the 5th Zenox battle fleet just dropped in to say hi.

I need it to a) be more pleasant or b) be able to turn it off for anything but fleet events.

Thank you.

I know exactly how you feel... that's why I suggested several "alarm levels" in the Master Whishlist-thread already. I really hope my suggestion will find consideration by Elliot!

In the meantime, I use this very relaxing, but still somehow alarming sound:

I hope this helps a little bit.

Try this: tm.asp?m=2479146

It is a 2 second loop of soothing silence I recorded to replace the annoying klaxon. Won't fix the number of alerts you get, but at least you don't have the annoying sound blasting you out of your chair every 10 seconds. [;)]

That really should be stickied or better yet changed within the game. Thanks much!!

I put in the sound Deggial linked to above and it fits very nicely. Silence would be too far the other way.

I used a couple of 2 or 3 second star trek sound effects, so you get the alert, but it is not annoying...

To each his own. Any sound that plays as much as the alert does in DW gets annoying to me. Silence is golden. [;)]
