I hope we get some more news on Shadows before the end of the world. And that's on friday, IIRC.

News are always welcome. Good progress in developing it is even better. But I think it should be possible for Erik to leak some details on something without it being a problem for Elliot.

Finding time to do that could be a problem for Erik, though.

Paradox does weekly development diaries for some of their WIP's where they are very open about their games and the functions they're working on. I don't know if such things are applicable for this game, but in Paradox' case those development diaries have become very important in keeping the fans happy with some screenshots and sharing the latest. I myself always look forward to friday when the latest EU4 diary arrives, and monday when it's time for the March of the Eagles diary. Maybe writing up such dev diaries is something for the DW team to consider at some point too because it would be a very popular feature on this forum.

I would think that if the developer enjoyed that a lot, he would already do some more looking a bit like it.

Paradox is a development studio of, what I assume is, some decent success. They got teams working on games. Matrix is a publisher giving assistance, but DW is a one man show.

I expect news to pop up once Shadows is in closed beta, and features are getting finalized.

I would prefer all the peep's at Codeforce and Matrix to be hard at work producing an even better game (and of course enjoying themselves over Xmas [:)]) than wasting time feeding us information.  It's not going to contribute to the game getting better.  Time enough for some news once the product is ready.

So that's -2.

This is getting too mathematical.... +1.... -1.... +2... [:)]

Sure. Would be nice to hear some news. I just think that perhaps some new game elements have to be properly tested out and approved before getting 'advertised'. Will avoid some subsequent disappointment.

Personally speaking, I've been quite happy with the quality and frequency of the previous expansions. Hope for a much better AI, diplomacy and some powerful AI ships and battles.

Don't think we'll get any 'decent news' before 2013. To be honest, as long as the news are really great, I don't mind waiting a bit.

We'll be sending the first beta build to the testing team by the end of this week and Elliot and I will be taking a break to rest up for the final push to release next year.

No, Paradox Entertainment is a publisher similar to Matrix Games. They also specialize in PC releases with many advanced strategy games that are directed at a niche but dedicated market. I don't know if they have any one-man studios that I know of, but they have published games done by very small ones.

Paradox is also responsible for the way to early release of Sword of the Stars II. Openness is fine sometimes, but I don't mind games with closed and focused development. Beta is a good way to get player input/discussion, which is on the way.
