Research Stations

Post by Cosian »

So I just bought the expansion and see some they have made some nice changes in the research area. Some questions ...

Relative to building stations at Black Holes ... Is the AI smart enough to place the station appropriately ... I think I lost a constructor when just giving an order to build a station at a black hole. How do you build Resort and Research Stations at black holes?

Can you build more than one station at a black hole ... like an HT Research Station and a Resort?

Can you build a mining station at a colony? At a colony with an SP? If you already have a station at a world that you now can colonize must you destroy the station? If you can have a colony and a mining base....should you build one?

Click on the black hole

Click on the build resort icon in the lower left hand info box. Note you have to be fully zoomed in for the build icons to appear.

Yes you can build different items there.

If you have a space port, you cant have starbase/mine

You can't have a mine even if you don't have a SP, as long as a colony is there they're the only ones exploiting the resources.

You only can have 1 Resort Station on 1 location, but your Resort station can even be on a colony of a different race (but they wont be happy).

You can have multiple Research station on any location, but only the 1. one get the possible research bonus.

If you want build it manualy with a special Const. ship, select the const ship, and give the build order at the Black hole over the universe map, that works 95% the times. Sometimes the Ship navigate very bad and get destroyed by the hole.

Yes, I found that the one time I lost a constructor at a black hole seems to be the exception and generally they will build properly if you just order them to build a station at the hole.

Actually, if you are playing the expansion its even easier to use the left side menus. Simply go to the scenic or recreation tab, pick the black hole, and queue it up. The AI handles it nicely from there.

Ooo yes, that I think it's the star feature of the expansion.
