Ackdarians are a species too stupid to conquer an empire with few troops, no spaceports, and one lone frigate flying. Which means they get mauled by same empire a bit later...

Not impressive at all :)

Out of interest are you planning to get aggressive with the Lemeresh? :)
Looks like the Keskudons might be your next obvious target...

I almost always play the Ackdarians, but I think maybe they're too easy! No one ever gets very mad at you, unless its someone you can squish under your boot. Don't blow up a planet though.. no one likes that.. even if its a bug world...

I play with the Ackadarians frequently as well. They're very balanced and favor expansionism. I always do well especially in the early game playing as them. I think they're probably one of the easier races to play as.

Thanks for the tips on these guys! I'm a new player and I initially tried playing Human, but failed miserably. I'm now playing the Ackdarians after seeing this post, and am having a great game with them!

I won the game shortly after posting this by conquering the Keskudons. They had been beating up on the Quameno and Entons and I decided to come to their aid. This was an 'epic' quick start game so I think winning in less than 10 years was pretty good.

I don't think the Lemeresh are working properly, though. They haven't been powerful in any game I've seen. Also, despite supposedly being extremely unfriendly I was able to befriend and treaty them - they were close to accepting mutual defensive treaty by the end. From their traits I also don't see how they are supposed to be a 'super' faction other than their access to the super weapon.

Ackdarians are indeed very easy. Their big advantage is the rate at which they can produce colony ships - they build at a base rate of 60% faster than default *before* other bonuses apply - it really is an enormous advantage. Colony ship construction rate is usually the limiting factor to your expansion. Hence, playing them removes some roadblocks. If you don't get attacked - which I didn't in this game, due to some shrewd diplomacy - you have a very good chance of winning, with your ~40ish colonies compared to the 5-6 of other factions.

I was trying to play it peacefully and see how far I could take it, but unfortunately I got a rodent infestation. Rodents attacked me. I bet them and subjugated them though, which was my first proper war victory in this game, actually. The Ackdarians are a lot of fun.

They are very likely to trade or possibly MDP with you if you are playing Amphibian but with the diplomacy as it is you can certainly ally with them if you work towards it.

Regarding them not being powerful I took a much closer look what the AI was doing and it was failing because of an issue I have reported internally. I have uploaded a patch to work around this AI issue and you will find they are much more in line with what was intended.
Thanks for pointing this out.
