Game Crashes on main menu

Game Crashes on main menu right when the video would start to play. i have disable the video in the startup.ini but it still crashes most the time. i have to launch the game around 20 times before i can get it to work once. Im on windows 10 and have the steam version if that matters. i am attaching the crash log im getting.

i have also done all of the other steps on the FAQ and tried running on compatibility mode and admin rights.

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START" 2. click "run" 3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK" 4. check through the tabs and perform all tests 5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

for this user on the same version of windows, reinstall the pre requisite made the game work

please make sure all game pre requisite are installed with the game, even if you think or fully know there are already installed, it will only over write, and it may be that you have a older or newer version of these where as the game in question may need a certain version.

i've edited this, as my reason for all this above is if you have upgraded etc to windows 10, some file may go missing on the upgrade so a reinstall always helps if any problems happen

Open the game installation folder and find a subfolder named "redist" and open it. Inside you should find a file named DXSETPUP.exe, please run it and install DirectX9.

ive done that 2 or 3 times but ill give it another shot with my new install of DW

The issue according to your crashlog is related with the DirectX.DirectSound, so or it's an issue with the sound driver of your Headset USB and DirectX, or it can be related with a 3rd party program interfering with the game audio.

This procedure fixed my install on a win10 machine. The problem I had was the game wouldn't start from the main menu. So if you have this issue, Follow the instructions....GP
