Command points and ability level

Post by RK1855 »

Totally confused, after checking several leaders and the available command points it seems that 1 and 2 star leaders are 12 and 24 points while 3 star are also 24. For example I have an army lead by Poyntz who is a 2 star general - no other leaders - and the CP available is 24. (Also for some reason I have 2 armies in totally different locations both lead by Poyntz, remarkable man unless there were 2 Poyntz's both with exactly the same portrait and attributes).

Another example is an army lead by Fairfax who is 3 star, there are also 2 1 star leaders in the army but the total CP available is 49 and the only way and I can get to 49 is 24 points for Fairfax plus 2 * 12 points for each of the 2 one star plus 1 point as Fairfax is a good commander and he is level 1.

So I assume this is a bug unless I have missed something obvious.

Sorry title is a bit incorrect it is just a question about command points - I did have a related one about ability level but answered that myself while composing the question but forgot to change the title.

three stars leaders give 48 CPs. There is an issue with Sydenham a P. Willoughby portraits but I'm fixing them today...

Thanks for your reply.

OK so the manual is incorrect then and it should be

1 star = 12
2 star = 24
3 star = 48 is that correct?

So if the above is correct then my army with Fairfax plus 2 x 1 star generals should be 73 CP not 49?

Also as I pointed out there is the issue where I have the same general - Poyntz - leading 2 different armies at the same time.

I also came across this in the manual today "The total number of Command Points that can be provided by Leaders in a single Force is limited to an unmodified maximum of 24" so I guess this is incorrect.

The manual is not so easily changed. But after its release to Slitherine I saw that I needed to change the CP's in Naseby and Marston Moor scenarios.
It will be good anyway to update te manual to a new version.

Regarding the final total of CP's in a stack it can also depend of some abilities so its not so easy.
But in ECW it is common to have Enough CPs. More than in other Ageod games.

OK - so the manual will be updated / corrected re Leader's CP's.

Can you please also confirm the actual answers re the first and last questions posed ( for clarity ).
[ I appreciate that a concise answer to the second question is rather more difficult... ]

Any answer re General Poyntz ( leading 2 different armies at the same time ) ??

The leaders give 12, 24 and 48 points

48 is the highest amount a leader can provide, but some abilities can increase this so that explains the 49
