I'm wondering why the Field of Glory downloadable content is so much more expensive than DLC for other games. DLC for paradox games is generally around $2 to $5, and DLC for Civ5 is around $5 to $10 from memory. Even at $10 it is too much for what you get in DLC after the $$$ that have been spent on the core game. I'd love to get the DLC for FofG but, sorry, the price is too high.

From our perspective, these are definitely inexpensive expansions rather than expensive DLCs. Each one drives the game engine forward (and we offer those improvements free to existing customers regardless of whether they get the expansion or not) and adds a lot between new units, scenarios and the DAG. Given what I've seen in a lot of inexpensive DLCs as far as content goes, these would have to be considerably scaled back to fit a lower pricing model. Finally, the business model and pricing for mainstream releases does not translate to this niche, it's apples and oranges unfortunately.

You know, it took me a long time to buy this game. I looked at the pics and didn't see much to interest me. Looked like two lines of infantry mindlessly having at it. Not much strategy at all. Then I bought the game with RoR and found out how wrong I was. Just an absolutely great game. So I got the expansions. Since the content is free, they might be a bit overpriced but I don't care. I look at it as a way to help move the game forward and improve. Never felt that way about a game before in 30 years of computer gaming. I'm still learning the game and the few I've played so far have been incredibly fun. And, Erik, you know I complain more than praise. My two cents.

You sure about that? I was told I would need to buy at least one expansion to get all the improvements (think it was for LoS). I'm willing to buy the base game to check it out but not if I don't get all the same features.
