Fog of War and other features?

Based on Slitherine’s popular tabletop wargaming system by the same name, Field of Glory now comes to the PC in a faithful adaptation of this acclaimed miniatures wargame! Without the calculations and measurements required for a tabletop game of Field of Glory, the PC version accurately represents Ancient and Medieval combat where you make the important and fun decisions on the battlefield. This forum also supports the Rise of Rome, Storm of Arrows and Immortal Fire expansions to Field of Glory.

Fog of War and other features?

Post by Grim.Reaper »

I've seen some posts that mention a FOW option. I only own the base game but don't see that option anywhere when I start a game. Do you have to own a certain expansion to have this feature? If so, which one? I'm getting a little confused with each expansion bringing something new to the game. Is there an easy chart somewhere that shows what new features come with each expansion? Don't need to understand the armies since that is easy enough, but the specific features would be nice.

The FOW option is accessed when you run a "New Game". It is a button at the bottom of the scenario option screen. There is an "Allow double moves" option there too. These have to be chosen before you start a battle.

What version of FoG do you have? Have you updated to the latest version - 1.40?

That's strange. I'm pretty sure these options were initiated at about the same time. If you have the Double moves option you should also have the FOW option. If you don't get another reply here soon, go to the Slitherine forum for Digital Field of Glory and ask there. It's a pretty busy forum. Someone there should have an answer.

Thanks for the help and I have also posted over there. I'm stumped. I'm patched to 1.40 and no option displayed when I start a new game. Maybe I will reinstall and see what happens.

Well, reinstalled everything with no luck in seeing the FOW option. Only thing I can think of one of the expansions must have included this feature. Although strange since I thought expansions brought only new forces while features were included in all versions of the game/

Maybe I found my own answer in the readme file in the game directory, although disappointed.

◦ Line of sight/Fog of War functionality for Rise of Rome owners.

This statement leads me to believe you need this expansion. So to be clear, do I need to get this specific expansion or will any expansion have this included? Any plans in the future to make it part of the base game? Seems like an option like this should be in the base game.

+1

I was wondering why I didn't have the FoW option as well.
