I'd like the northern helo to continue past the vic location and go straight toward the river from there and then sweep down. I'd like to see if anything is up there for possible route for some follow on forces.

To the VL at 10? Or are you talking about at 11 and then down to 8 and 9?

Good Hunting.

If I have this right we are looking at this.

Platoon Color Key.

1st Platoon - Red
2nd Platoon - Orange
3rd Platoon - Light Blue
Helo Platoon - Yellow

1st Plt will go around the obstacle that was found. It will continue to move west until it makes contact.

2nd Plt will move onto the obstacle and clear it for follow up units.

3rd Plt will push along the Southern Route until it makes contact.

Helos will support 1st Plt in the recon role.

Good Hunting.

looks good to me. How long is the scenario? Do we have access to weather forecasts, want to know if we can look forward to increased visibility.

This scenario will last 10 hours or until one side takes more than 80% casualties. The weather forecast is scattered rain expected throughout the coming day. Increased visibility should happen within the next few hours.

This turn resolution is for 28 minutes. This varies each time depending on several variables. Maybe we can get the Capn to discuss these in his "What Else Can We Tell You About The Game" thread. [&o]

Each time you give an order set to a unit there is a delay before those orders are executed. There are several things that can determine the length of that delay. Simply being a Soviet unit is one. The distance from the commanding HQ is the largest factor and will give the longest delay.

Since we reset the orders for everyone but 3rd Platoon there will be a delay for most of our forces this turn.

That did not effect 3rd Platoon and they immediately took their first objective.

The recon element of the 2487th Guards Motor Rifle Regiment has arrived. You can place where you want reinforcements to enter the map in the editor. They must come in on a setup zone hex.

These were brought in from the edge of the map because of road congestion stacking limits for the setup zone.

Since only 3rd Platoon moved in the last turn segment I have given orders for the new Recon element to move north through Lichtenau and then west.

From 10 over to 11. I have given the units orders to cross the river at the destroyed bridge.

For the moment that gives us 3 recon efforts. North, Center and South.

Since nothing else changed I will run the orders for turn 3.

Good Hunting.

The tighter turn sequences work to your advantage. The less time the game takes to run between turns allows you to make adjustments quicker.

Do the helo's suffer the same order delay as ground troops? They shouldn't...should they. Couldn't the helo's continue to recon forward while the ground element reorg's.

Just curious...MR are you issuing orders to each counter or are you using a hex or formation move?

All units suffer an organizational delay when their orders change.

I can give orders to each unit. Which I have been doing or I can give a group order. I much prefer that they end up exactly where I want them and on twisting roads, for me, that means I tell each one where I want it to go.

If we were advancing over clear terrain, and not on a road, I'd give group orders. A group order can have it's waypoints adjusted to each unit but it's simpler to just select each unit and give it direct orders. For me personally at any rate.

You can simply hold the pointer over a hex for a short period of time and it will display the contents of the hex. Orders can be given to units in the hex from the hex display screen.

Good Hunting.

Jack54,
No formation move currently. It is on our list of cool things to have in the future. There are a couple ways to issue orders. You can order each unit or highlight a number of them and issue orders. After that you can adjust way points by selecting a unit and moving the way points where you want.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

The next thing that happened is that we get a substantial amount of reinforcement. Actual combat units instead of just recon elements.

The units give a tag on the map as well as a text box notice. This is the text box notice.

Each unit that moves onto the obstacle is delayed the same amount until the obstacle is cleared. To clear the obstacle the unit simply sits on it for the delay period and when that is over the obstacle is cleared.

Abstracted at the moment. Something we intend to improve at a later date.
