Saving my HQs

Post by vettim89 »

Both sides AI love them some HQ action. I cannot keep my large formation HQ's alive. The enemy find them and won't let go. I tried keeping them on the move but the moment they reach the final way point, they get hit. Then when I plot new movement, every time they get hit they reset they move.

Any tricks for keeping the HQ alive especially when the enemy has a lot of artillery?

Try issuing fewer orders from your HQ (radio traffic will give away the HQ's position), and assign some of your artillery to counter-battery missions.

Part of the trick is keeping the number of orders low per turn. Changing things for every unit every command cycle generates a ton of traffic. If you do a ton of orders, move the HQ. Keeping those HiHQs in covered terrain helps too.
