I've noticed some pretty weird things from the AI. I am Allied and I was seeing interceptors in southern Italy lifting to chase Fighter Bombers on shallow penetration flights into France. I then saw interceptors in western France lift to chase shallow penetrations to the boot of Italy. Later in the afternoon I saw a group of 40 109's cross the map from southern Europe to a field in Northern Germany, but they had no real reason to be airborne and they appeared as a orange Allied box instead of one of the Axis colors.

Also apparently I flew a 28 fighter recon flight from Africa to a field on Crete, I didn't notice it until the after action report as I autoplanned my recon.

I lkike that this game gets update, but there is something weird going on here.
I started a new 1943 axis campaign with the new patch and on day four the USAAF raided the Kapsack Goldenberg kraftanlage south of Cologne with 200+ B-17s.
I put up two large "Gefechtverband", and waited until the escorts returned, then i did a concentrated attack with over 200 Fw 190 A-5/A-6 and over 300 Bf109G6 and a single gruppe of Bf110s. I shot down 52 B-17 ...but lost 15 Fw 190 and 48(!!!!) Bf 109 and 4 Bf 110 (against unescorted bombers WTF!?)
Ok, so I reloaded and did it again, this time I downed 62 B-17 losing 70 fighters, even single stragglers took out one or two Bf 109 before going down.
Has this patch boosted up the B-17 gunners to meet their own claims during the war?

Nothing was done intentionally to boost the defense fire of level bombers so it is likely a result of the tweaks and fixes we have done to the air combat code. The dev team acknowledges that the level bomber defensive fire is a bit to deadly and needs to be specifically reviewed. We should have a new beta to test in a week or so.Has this patch boosted up the B-17 gunners to meet their own claims during the war?

I'll take a look at the AI interception code and see what's up.

I got some absurd results a few times.

Are the interceptors following through all the way or do they eventually realize the futility in their choices?

On the other side, I'm playing BTR as Allies in the 1944 campaigns (Big week and grand), and I also am seeing some absurd losses on the allied end for 1:1 fully escorted raids. (The bomber gunners are probably what is keeping me competitive at all). In some cases, I've been taking 60-70 bomber losses in a single day, but only 2 fighter losses, when my raids were 50% fighters (and yes, I stagger escorts to provided continuous coverage).
It seems that the issue is the new AI tendency to attack stragglers rather than the main formation. While this is certainly an effective tactic and I understand why it was added, the allied side does not really have the game mechanics to detach a portion of the the escorts to cover the stragglers. My escorts fly along fat, dumb, and happy with the main formation, while not 10 miles behind them, the stragglers are being slaughtered by a Gruppe or two of Me-410s. Also, are you sure about the proportion of stragglers being shed? It seems a little excessive to me.

Well the interceptors are turning around once the raids are either over the Channel or Mediterranean headed home, like I said they have been really shallow penetrations so by the time the interceptors lift my raids have usually already hit their targets. I haven't noticed it as much in the last few turns.
RE: Gary Grigsby's Eagle Day to Bombing the Reich v1.06.47 Now Available!
The issue persists, consistently at least 1 or 2 flights each day with the odd day of 4 or 5.

A little strange thing in BoB(Full LW Campaign), in the targets list under engine factory there is Roll R. Hillington listed but without target photo number and without being designated as target, it also isn't shown on the map.

It's delayed 30 days from the start of the campaign. The coordinates put it in Glasgows' left arm-pit.<g>

I wish I could try the update, every time I try updating I get an error about not being able to run a .dll and something about uninstall.exe. I've even tried completely uninstalling the game and reinstalling and getting the same problem.

Target adjustment for BoB.
ICI Billigham, looking at it with its huge capacity caught my interest so I checked it and the positions seems to be rather that of the other ICI pant called ICI Petrochemical.
You can see this here on the small map: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billingha ... ring_Plant
Now, what ICI Petrochemical is I don't know, likely not the near ICI Wilton plant that seems to have started operating not before 1949 according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilton_International .
Maybe we have a British crack here that can bring a bit light into this.
For now a map of 1955 with ICI positions:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... y_1955.png
You see that there is only Billigham and South-East of it Willton, and something rather small further North at Haswell about with I could not find any info.
Another thing for BoB, Grimsby area is way off, currently North of the mouth of the Humber river but its South of it.

BoB 40, Luftwaffe:
The depiction of I./KG 40 could in my opinion be changed from start, https://www.ww2.dk notes to this:
"1./KG40 was formed 1.11.39 at Bremen with Fw 200C bombers. Stab I. and 2./KG40 was formed 1.5.40, and 3./KG40 on 1.6.40. In 9.40 3./KG40 became Ausb.Sta./KG40, and was reformed."
So I./KG 40 could be depicted with 2 Staffeln, and this right away with FW 200. The Stab/KG 40 was indeed equipped with He-111.
And the loadout of KG 4 could be adjusted. German wiki notes to this:
"Im Juli 1940 schulte der Geschwaderstab die I. und II. Gruppe auf die Verwendung von Luftminen um. Grund dafür war die bevorstehende Luftschlacht um England, an der das Geschwader im Rahmen der 9. Fliegerdivision der Luftflotte 2 teilnahm. Inzwischen lagen der Stab und die I. Gruppe in Soesterberg, die II. Gruppe in Eindhoven und die III. Gruppe in Amsterdam. Auch erhielten die Gruppen mit der Heinkel He 111H eine verbesserte Version des Bombers. Bei den anschließenden Angriffen auf die britische Insel war das Geschwader bei allen Großangriffen auf London beteiligt. Weitere Schwerpunkte waren Hull, Bristol, Liverpool und Belfast."
So KG 4 could possibly use such a German Luftmine, the He-111 in the version H-4 could likely carry a SB-2500 with 1640 kg Amatol 60/40(60 % TNT, 40 % Ammoniumnitrat). I assume that it would have a much bigger effect then the 250kg bombs that it carries now. Who knows, maybe the game code even has some effect if such bombs are used and incendiary bombs afterwards.
Even if not the KG 4 would have a reason to be assigned to the special formation called "9. Fliegerdivision", currently it's just a KG with He-111 like most of the other.

RE: Gary Grigsby's Eagle Day to Bombing the Reich v1.06.47 Now Available!
Could someone please comment on the status of looking at the strange BTR v1.06.47 results for aircraft losses? Has a bug been found, more tweaking needs to be down, etc.? In 2016, Matrix indicated development of the game was completed and the development was not in communication. Is a new development team at work now? What is the plan for the next update and will UI changes still be considered?
1) How about selecting recon mode and just start clicking on targets with random flight times?
2) How about selecting night interceptor and just start clicking on German airfields with a specified time for
coverage?
3) Saving messages about fields from which German planes took off
These additions would drastically speed up game play!
Thanks!
